Will this lock scratch my bike when I lock it up?
No. The solid steel of the lock has a plastic casing so it won't scratch your paint when you unfold and wrap it around your bike.
Extra large for larger bikes
- Via Velo's foldable lock opens to 85 cm (33 in) chain link circumference. It is also suitable for motorcycles, mountain bikes, and scooters.
- When folded the lock is remarkably compact, folding to a size of 2.35in x 7.45in

I brought this a month ago and I really liked it, but the first time I went to officially use it, the whole thing fell apart, the spring is rusty and I cannot fix it. When attempting to get product support, the link provided is broken and I missed the return window by a day.I am not impressed with this product and do not recommend buying it due to lack of contact - while I understand that this could be a bad batch, there's no way of getting help from the company.

On my first lock, an important plastic piece that covers the lock mechanism, fell off 34 days after purchase. I could not reattach it and removing it made the lock very difficult to use, so I stopped using it. I had just passed the 30 day amazon return window so I wrote a critical review on Amazon and thought that was it. But, the manufacturer reach out and sent me a replacement lock. Impressive service and quite unexpected. I give the manufacturer full props on their level of concern and action. I have compared the two locks (see picture) and they look the same to me (unfortunately, as I was hoping I had an older model). However, I will use the new one and report back in the Fall with my findings.Well, it didn't take long for the second lock to fail the same way the first one did. The plastic cover on the lock came apart just the same as the first one on my third use. So, I just bought a kryptonite lock to replace it. The customer service was great but the lock has a fatal flaw that must be fixed before I would buy it again.

I had high hopes for this as a secondary lock to discourage thieves from going after my bike. It arrived on a timely basis and felt fairly solid. The locking mechanism felt smooth and secure. On the 3rd use however, the housing on the locking mechanism literally fell apart in my hands. As you can see in the photos the cap/cover came apart from the locking mechanism. Fortunately I had my primary lock as I was far from home doing an errand. Based on the other reviews, I am not the first to receive a defective lock and if they don't get their quality control together I won't be the last customer. You're better off skipping this and avoid the hassle of returning the bits and pieces.***Update - Customer Satisfaction Oriented Company***Via Velo read my review and saw the problem I had and wanted to make it right by sending me a complimentary lock for my troubles. I have since received the replacement and will be test driving it. I will update my product review in the near future. High marks for their customer satisfaction response.

"I could use a couple more links for my 4 inch tires. It can be a struggle to find a way to secure the bike."I said this and Velo sprang into action. They not only refunded my money, but sent me a second lock which totally resolves locking up my bike properly.One could not ssk for a better result. They have done everything to make sure I am happy.The phrase, if you aren't happy, we aren't happy is lived up to by Velo. I am now their biggest fan.If any one asks me,Velo makes the lock you need!

The lock is very sturdy. The locking mechanism is a BIT annoying because you have to turn the key to put the latch back in to the lock. The other part I don't like very much is that I mounted it to my e-scooter but every little bump makes it rattle. You just have to put it in your bag or wrap it with a broccoli elastic to solve this but overall it's a sweet lock.

Took me a while to do my research and go through which foldable locks I'd want to get and for the prices they were being sold at.Pros: I'm very glad I ended up getting this lock as it's very portable and not that heavy to have strapped to the frame of my road bike.Cons: The bike frame lock strap isn't fully flush as the lock itself will giggle around when ridding around some bumpsOnce again, note that all locks are never a full 100% way to prevent a bike from being stolen. But this lock is a good way to add some extra deterrence.

Bought this to replace my ulock as my electric bike has a thicker stem and not enough length for traditional locks. Works great and folds up small. Love the rubber case which doesn’t scratch paint off my bike. Case makes it easy to carry around without needing some where to attach the old lock. Great idea.

> This is a very compact but very secure bicycle lock. It folds compactly and mounts easily to the frame of the bicycle so it isn't in the way. It doesn't have the fully security capability of a cable and U lock to secure both front and rear wheels but it does secure the frame and one wheel very securely. I don't believe that bolt cutters would work effectively on this folding lock. The downside is that it did not come with a key code tag so getting any replacement keys appeared to be impossible. The company to its credit tried to resolve the issue by determining the code from a picture of the key that came with the lock. They quickly came back with an identification which was used to order additional keys. Unfortunately, for some reason the replacement keys did not work, but this did not deter the company's service people. They asked for another picture to confirm the key code and they sent out another set of keys. This time the keys worked perfectly, with no binding or other issues. The company is justifiably proud of their product and has a customer service department that truly stands behind their products.
