I’m using this in my outdoor pond. Water reached desired temperature within a day. Item says it’s for indoor use but I have the control panel secure from the weather. Highly recommend

The heater must be fully submerged in the tank. It is a little large but it is made for bigger tanks. What's nice is it has a digital thermometer that mounts to the outside of the tank that will tell you current water temperature and allow you to adjust easily to the temperature you'd like. I was able to replace both my heaters on my 250 gallon tank with just this one. When I put it in the tank water temp was 73°. Within an hour I was able to get it up to 78° for my tropical fish. I could tell the difference in how much better they were being active swimming.

This heater is very efficient, and can heat my 150 gallon aquarium very quickly. As others have mentioned, you should have a secondary probe to double check the accuracy of the heater. Out of the box the heater was off 1-2 degrees compared to my other temperature sensors. Over time though the temperature difference has grown to over 10 degrees, and I’ve had to buy a different heater to compensate.

I had relatively low expectations after this purchase, but was blown away at how great this works. For context, I have a 150 gallon tank for a red eared slider who needs the water temp to be kept between 75 and 80 degrees. The setup was quick, and easy. Just plop the suction cups on the back, plug it in and stick it in the water, done.It took about 3 hours to get to the target temp, and its done well at maintaining the temp needed, even in this really cold weather.Overall, highly recommend for any of you out there who have semi aquatic reptiles who need higher water temps, especially in the winter!

I have had several heaters for my 300-gallon fish fountain. The others had difficulty maintaining 69 - 70 degrees and one I was never sure that it functioned properly at all. However, this product worked perfectly from the start. When I installed it this winter the water temperature was 53 degrees, and the goldfish were not liking the temperature drop. After I started the heater, it brought the temperature up to 70 the following day and has maintained it perfectly since. I made a mistake and let the water level drop and the device automatically turned off, saving it from self-destruction. This is a great heater and I'd recommend it to anyone with a sizeable fishpond, especially if a specific temperature range must be maintained.

I bought this for a 125 Gallon Aquarium that is more like 130ish with the canister filter. In the winter months the ambient air temp inside is at 65f and I need to keep the water around 79f. I was debating between this one and the older, more square and blue one Aqqa makes, but decided on this one since it was the newer version and had slightly smaller dimensions for inside the tank. I also chose the 800w version and am happy I went with that over the 500w. The 800w heater brought the tank up from 65f to 79f in a matter of a couple of hours and it holds it there without any issue. (No fish were in the tank yet) And one thing I really like how it shows you your actual water temperature along with the set water temperature. The only small issue I have is is it off by 2 degrees. (Why it got 4 out of 5 stars) I set the heater to hold the tank at 79f and waited until the control panel showed the set temp and actual water temp were both at 79f. I checked the water with 2 different thermometers and they both showed the tank was actually at 77f and not 79f. I set the heater to 81f and checked it again and this time the water was 79f. So I set it at 81f and since then it has held the water temp steady at 79f without issue. So just make sure to double check the temperature and adjust accordingly. The other thing I figured I’d mention is the control panel outside of the water does click (about as loud as clicking a pen) when it turns on and off. Doesn’t bother me, but I know some people don’t like that.Overall, a great heater for the price and very quick at warming up the water. I would highly recommend it as long as you “self calibrate” it’s temperate in its first use.
