Raised my first flock of baby chicks using this brooder. Perfect. Once they got a bit heavier I used two small blocks of wood on either side underneath to keep the plate from tipping. Screws are fine but obviously six growing babies jumping up and off eventually will tip the plate. Taped paper towel onto top surface and changed daily - keeps top clean and protects temperature dial. Will absolutely use again and buy another when time comes.

We had our chicks and turkey poults start out in a completely enclosed small trailer. It was mid spring when they arrived. In our location, this means it could be -5 with snow or +10. We had the chicks under the heat lamp and the poults in a cage beside them. This brooder plate was with the poults. It worked great, especially in that first week. After about 2 weeks, the poults were too large (6). Perhaps the amount of chicks listed could fit under because they are smaller, I’m not sure. Whenever a poult would jump onto it, it would slowly work the brooder plate down despite being tightened in place. Over tightening could strip the threads. So while it is adjustable for height, the fact that it can slide when they start going on top is not good because then they can’t get under. The heat does not radiate on the top like it may in other name brands. The chick/poult would only get their heat from being under it. They are also very curious and peck at it. Several times they would peck at the temperature dial and turn it down!! Silly turkeys. Also, while it’s rated at a higher temperature this would not keep the chicks/poults warm enough if it was the only heat source. Having a heat lamp and/or keeping them in a heated building would be most ideal. Especially draft free!! Cheers

Works great, bought it for new chicks and they all huddle under it. A little slow coming up to temp but seems to work well enough.

The Rotulark brooder heater plate is a great way to keep your young feathered animals comfortable in their coop when weather gets cool. The heat also radiates in the coop and helps to warm it up during winter. The large 11” x 11” plate can be easily adjusted in height and angle and the 4 foot cord can reach a receptacle or extension cord if placed closer to the walls of a coop or shelter. The plate gets warm quickly and is not hot enough to burn or cause damage. The plate is low power and consumes between 15-22W and heats from 45-70C which can be selected tlby the temperature knob.If the plate is put close to other objects like wood or metal walls of an enclosure the heat will radiate from the plate to the material and heat it. If there is a low speed, low powered fan pointed towards the plate to create current around it the heat will quickly fill an enclosed area increasing the temperature which is beneficial during cold winter days.Great quality product that is easy to use and setup that will provide warmth to your feathered animals without driving up the energy bills.
