I ordered this coolant flange for my GTI specifically because it says it is aluminum, and I'm trying to eliminate as many plastic parts as I can from my engine bay. The picture looked like it could have been aluminum that was anodized black, which would be pretty cool. It is NOT aluminum. It's the same plastic flange that came from the factory. Why they put "aluminum" in the title, I do not know, other than to be misleading. Two stars off for that. That said, I will say this in favor of this flange: it seems to be a genuine, OE flange from Volkswagen. I can see where the VW markings have been removed. I work in auto repair, and frequently see this on OEM parts (parts that came from the manufacturer that makes them for the auto maker), they don't change the molds for parts they sell directly, so they simply grind the auto maker's markings off the part so they can sell them under their own brand name. This appears to be one such part, and the quality of the material and build certainly matches the genuine part. So, not a *bad* part, and certainly worth the price tag offered. Just a misleading title.
