UPDATE October 2024: This paste is not as good as it was when I initially used it years ago. I assumed it would be, so I wrote a positive review. My mistake! Wow.I bought a new set of 1, 3, 6 micron paste - the 6 micron was very expensive compared to the $10 & $20 other two. I saw they were cheap but I thought with the DMT DiaPaste brand name, I would have the same great product I've used before - nope. This paste has zero sparkling to show diamonds like it once did, it's much more wet, less compound to use & spread per squeeze on your strop & you need to use a lot of it before your strop has even coverage.PS: Their diamond stones have also extremely suffered in quality, buy Atoma of Sharpal 325/1200 grit. Pair that with a better quality diamond compound & you're golden. I'll be trying TechDiamondTools, although their grit range is quite substantial according to them, it shouldn't matter if I use 3-6 micron. I digress. My updated review holds my current thoughts, once again will update if the 2nd tube of 3 micron is better. Don't hold your breath, I won't be. (The progression part of my original comment is still what I recommend. Sharpen very dull knives on 140-325 grit, (optional) 600 grit stone, move to 1000-1200 grit. Then use anywhere around 1/3/6 micron pastes, if you could have just one then get around 6 micron. Hope that helps, cheers.- HarleyOriginal review when DMT DiaPaste & stones were some of the best: This is perfect for use after your standard knife sharpening grit progression. I personally am simple with it & use diamond stones - 400, finish on 1000-1200 grit stone, move to 6/3 micron, then finish stropping on 1 micron. You'll have a hair popping sharp blade very quickly. No need for so many stones in between, even if you want hair whittling sharpness, you can do it with good diamond stones & good diamond paste in the right micron.

It is quite expensive for only two grams of diamond paste but you can count on it for a good concentration of evenly sized diamonds that are fairly quick to hone or polish your knife edges. I have used DMT diamond paste for years with really good results. Although a bit expensive a little goes a long way and you can coat several strips with it.

Been using this stuff for ages always gives a real nice super sharp bitey edge to finish your project. There are better polished edge finishers but that's not what I'm aiming for.

This paste made an excellent job of sharpening the rotary blades on my Philishave electric razor. A small bit of flat glass, a dab of DMT and 30 seconds of gentle grinding, cutting as good as new.

a must if using a strop. It will take your edge to a mirror polish in minutes
