This piece has a thick solid base which is very important for a proper tightening and sealing. Yes, the inside opening is slightly oval as others have mentioned. But the thermostat sits slightly recessed in the intake manifold, does not move and is not affected by the oval shape. I installed it and it does not leak. I am happy with it.

I brought this Trem housing to remodel because no room plus the fuller neck was the right angle ,I had to bring the bolt hole spacing in about 1/2" all worked out, very happy with this product

I wasn't expecting much at this price but needed a thermostat housing with a port and found this one. I haven't actually run the engine yet, but it installed like any other housing. The base is much thicker than the OEM housing which is a pleasant surprise and should allow the gasket to seal well. It came with two hex socket pipe plugs which I was not expecting (guess I don't look at the picture closely), but appreciate. No complaints at all.UPDATE: I should have installed it with TWO bolts before submitting my review. Initially just used one bolt to see how hoses would line up. I found that the bolt holes were about 0.050" too close together so could not bolt to OEM GM cast iron manifold. Had to use die grinder to enlarge hole spacing to install. Deducted one star because it's good otherwise.

As stated the thermostat hole is oval and the thermostat fits in side ways. DO NOT buy.
