Not the simplest job due to the location of the thermostat on this engine but it fit and solved the overheating issue we were having due to stuck thermostat.

Fixed an intermittent overtemp issue on 2008 Mazda MX5 Miata. Fit prefect, no leaks fairly easy install.

It did technically work and fix the issue but seems pretty flimsy

I was skeptical because I saw a review from somebody stating that the thermostat opened at 150° f. I tried it myself the night before and it did not open until close to 200° f which is normal for a 2008 Mazda 3. The actual install process is pretty straightforward there is a ton of YouTube videos out there for it. This thing popped right in the place and worked right off the bat

I had a coolant flush and Dorman part # 902-682 thermostat replaced on my son's first car by my lifetime mechanic as he was getting DTCs P0126 & P0128. My son noticed engine coolant running down the pavement from under his car later the same day after install. 2007 Mazda 3 with a 2.0L engine was brought back to mechanic who stated this NEW customer-supplied Dorman part # 902-682 was faulty due to a cracked housing. Mechanic reinstalled with a MotoRad part #514-185 which he stated never causes him or his customers grief. Dorman CEO Kevin Olsen was contacted about this who stated this is the first instance of a cracked housing on this part on record. My son had to pay labour twice for this repair + an additional jug of 50/50 Mazda Blue II engine coolant.
