I bought this as a backup heater, since it's adjustable I can use it for basically any of my tanks. I have it in a 20 gallon currently that's cycling and it has kept up just fine.

The heater is overheating and brings a burning smell through our my bedroom. I unplugged it and haven't plugged it back in.

I don't have an aquarium, but for off label use as a heater for my chicken waterer, this is perfect. I have a 5 gallon bucket that I use for the flock and this fits well inside with the suction cups holding it firmly in place. We added a half hole to the lip of the bucket to accommodate the cord so the lid still fits well. The lowest setting is 60 degrees, so not too hot, not to cold. Takes little power to keep it going, so it can run on the same circuit as my tank heater without tripping the breaker. For my use, it would be better if the cord was longer, but I can see where it might be just right for an aquarium as long as the outlet is close by. AAA+
