Well made and functional.The 2 pads on the underneath in front and back are different thicknesses. If your knees are slightly below your hips (normal sitting position) then it's great.However, if you are sitting on a bed, or any position where your legs are horizontal, it will be tilted towards you slightly. Same if you set it down on a flat surface. Back edge ends up roughly 1.5 inches higher than the front.Easily compensated for, not a huge problem, but unexpected

This is perfect! Exactly the right size, feels sturdy and secure on my lap, and my iPad doesn't slip when I have it set up for typing. If you need a lap desk and you like Van Gogh's Starry Night, this is for you. My only quibble is that the color could stand to be a little darker, but thats no big deal at all. It's totally cute and just what I needed.
