I installed this for my ceiling fan.It was an easy install and works perfect.Now I don't have to reach up and pull the chains on my fan to stop or change speeds.Perfect for houses with high ceilings.

My fan came with a 5-speed controller and I swear all 5 speeds were the same. Useless for winter as the slow speeds was WAY too fast. I got this because it is one of the few 4-speed controllers and because of the positive reviews. I was NOT disappointed! It works great! Slow is slow and perfect for winter and all 4 speeds have a distinct change. The only complaints are just like everyone ese the knob is small and smooth so hard to turn. Also the plastic faceplate is not very securely attached to the metal base and wiggles around a good bit. But I'll take function over aesthetics any day of the week! Happy purchaser here.

Installed okay but really little in the way of installation instructions. However this may because I'm not sure who our home's original electrician was or what he was thinking at the time of original installation of old switch. Only real issue right now is that the speed delineation between 'Slow' and 'Medium' is difficult to really ascertain. Appear the same. So 3 speeds maybe, but 4? Not too sure.

I tried to use a standard light switch dimmer for the ceiling fan in my daughter's room. I will never do that again.1. Makes a noticeable buzzing sound when on lower speeds and light buzzing at full speed.2. The full speed setting only allowed the fan to spin at a medium speed.This unit was easy to install (make sure you have a cheap $5 tester to determine the hot wire. In our house, the builder was cheap and used black wires for hot and neutral. The ground is straight copper).VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND POWER AND WIRING, GET AN ELECTRICIAN TO DO THE WORK AND WATCH WHAT THEY DO. HAVE THEM PUT IN AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT DEVICES SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. ASK QUESTIONS. LOOK UP YOUTUBE TUTORIALS FROM ELECTRICIANS TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING. DON'T SAVE $100 BUCKS AND CAUSE A FIRE!I used the chain on the ceiling fan to verify that it was on the high setting and then tested the switch on low, medium and high.Completely silent and I get the proper speeds.

Product was advertised as unused but packing damaged. Product was delivered in original packaging, but had been opened. It did not work except on Hi speed. It appears that product was returned to Amazon damaged. I do not have any packaging so I probably cannot return it. Just a word of caution when purchasing open package products from Amazon. (Or anyone for that matter.) Disappointing

This switch is awesome. It is replacing a switch that came with a Westinghouse ceiling fan. The old switch had a brutal hum that could be heard across the house. This one is quiet, works perfectly and tucks nicely into the electrical box next to the light switch. Recommend!

At first these were the perfect answer to our problem. Our leviton 3 speed fan switches just weren't working well with our Hunter Kaplan fans. Low would barely move, medium was barely a low speed and hi would jump to super high speed. This Leviton 4 speed fan switch seemed perfect after a simple install. The speeds seemed appropriate. Then we noticed the light flickering when we would change speeds. At first I thought it was my eyes playing tricks. Then it became more prominent. All the lights on that circuit would flicker off briefly when the speed was changed. Also, it would make a pooping noise, like it was surging when we would turn the dial. Eventually, the one in our bedroom started making a smoke smell and one of the lochts in the fan burnt out. Upon changing the light, I saw it have burn marks on it and some of the plastic was melted. I am in the process of returning them and went with Lutron. It seems to be working a lot better. If it was safer, it wouldve been a great solution.
