Hardware ok but Amzn software sadly hobbles it needlesslyThe actual hardware used is decent esp for the $ when on sale.. def NOT worth it at reg price however.That said I returned this not due to the hardware.. but the foolish restrictions imposed by Amzn on this android based tablet.. Something as simple as installing KODI is PROHIBITED by Amzn.. so you have to jump through hoops to side load it instead.. Why.. some dolt believed some foolish complaint at one time falsely claiming that KODI was a pirate software only app etc.. when its just a friend end for home media server.. very similar to PLEX only FREE.. Dumb moves like this by Amzn have hobbled what is otherwise a good value at the sale price. But with the tablet handcuffed per se its just not worth the hassle. Yes it can be bypassed for almost all of the dumb things amzn did to it. But the fact is the consumer should NOT have to do so in order to be able to use it to its full potential. Epic level FAIL by Amzn on this.. and the new 2024 software revision has only made this situation worse., Do yourself a favor and don't waste time or $ on any of these FIRE tablets/tvs etc.. unless Amzn gets a clue and stops hobbling them they are not worth it unless they are FREE and even then that could be argued against. In this case it made it 100% unusable for my inlaws since I'm not about to baby sit them with it 24/7 when I instead nabbed an Acer 10" stock android tablet without any software BS for a $10 higher cost (on sale)

This is my second fire tablet. I like it for reading books, searching the web and watching videos. I know there are comments about there not being a lot of apps. This is true, but I'm not worried about a bunch of apps. I like it for travelling, especially with kids it works great! There are parental controls if you want kids to use it. The battery life is good. It lasts a couple of days before it needs recharging. I bought mine during Black Friday sales so the price was really good.

Love that I got this for well under $100. The streaming is impeccable. Vibrant colours, easy to use. And they have affordable cases to go with them. No connection issues and the volume goes higher than expected. Top tier quality ! Thanks Amazon.

Very good small tablet. Great for travel. Very durable and has all the apps I need. Battery is good and this tablet is kid friendly with parental controls.

I've had some high dollar tablets over the years, then as cell phones grew larger and larger, I forgot about them. This one caught my attention due to its Black Friday pricing.Pros:Lightweight, SD card expansion, quick at web-browsing/emailing/media consumption, 3 GB of RAM for responsive multi-tasking, decent screen clarity with perfectly usable brightness, speakers that don't completely suck, headphone jack (wow!), surprisingly good battery life.Cons: Amazon bloatware is pre-installed and non-removable (maybe it can be rooted, but it seems hardly worth the effort for this low-cost device), screen is a fingerprint magnet (easily remedied with a screen protector), lacks Google Play Store (no alternative browser can be installed for example, nor can the usual music services), not at all suitable for gaming (but who games on android???).Hidden talents: A quick web search will reveal how to install Google Play Services, which turns this already decent tablet into an outright bargain since that gives you access to the full library of Android apps; install this at your own risk (of course).Final verdict: For the money, this thing is very good. It's hard to believe it's so cheap considering that even just half a decade ago this would have been considered a superb 8" tablet. Even though it's weak for gaming (honestly, who cares?), it's highly responsive where it counts, i.e., web-browsing, media consumption and email duties. Recommended if those are the things you intend to do with a tablet.P.S. This is the perfect bedside table companion when in a hotel, to fall asleep to Youtube, Netflix or Amazon videos over WiFi, and to wake you up in the morning with its included "clock" app.

I just love this tablet! Works great but don't expect to run many things at once without expecting the speed to slow. One browser and two apps will make apps freeze and crash. Battery lasts all day of fairly heavy reading. There are workarounds for getting all the apps you want. The physical device is the perfect size for media consumption on the go. I pair this with a hotspot and I'm good to go anywhere in the world that has cellphone reception. It feels good in the hand and light. The plastic body is solid. It comes with the ability to apply parental controls and is unbeatable for the value it provides for the money spent. I can't even go out for supper without paying more than what this cost me on a Black Friday sale. It's speed is excellent and my pleasure in using it is high. Highly recommend it for anyone that wants a tablet for consuming media. Do not recommend it for high productivity uses like homework and business.
