I purchased this valve to replace a leaking valve. This is a low cost irrigation system when compared to the typical buried systems. However these battery operated plastic valves can be damaged easily or cross threaded on the metal manifold. The hose coupling cannot be replaced or repaired. I recommend lubricating the threads with grease or pipe dope and stop turning if there is any resistance.

If you need replacement control, these are perfect. I made the mistake of letting my old ones freeze when the weather changed late last fall. They do not survive freezing. As a result several of them were leaking when I turned the unit back on in the spring. So, make sure to remove before cold weather hits.

I don't know why there would be a warmth in the stars section, but I've been using these valves for about 9 years now and they work great.
