I love the turbo speed for my spaniel. The fur grows so fast and thick it's definitely a plus.

I have a cute Golden Doodle, "Nessie", who is very prone to bad matting, especially behind her ears, but generally she gets matted all over. We like to let her hair grow long because it looks so cute, but the matts get worse as it gets longer.Previously I'd been using a basic set of Wahl clippers which simply couldn't keep up. They would literally cut a quarter inch and then jam up. It took me over 4 hours to cut Nessie! In desperation I finally decided to splash out and go for these Oster clippers after reading good reviews. I can honestly say these clippers are AMAZING. They glide through Nessie's matts like butter. Almost as if they weren't there at all. I've had them for several months now, and given her three cuts. Each time, same result. Effortless cutting. They are definitely on the expensive side, but WORTH EVERY PENNY in my opinion.Pros:Amazing at cutting through matts.Overall very easy to use.Quiet motor.Comes with spare lubricating oil and motor grease.Long cord, so I no longer needed to use an extension cord.Cons:On the expensive side.Quite heavy and chunky, but not excessively so.Seem to get quite hot, but not so hot that it bothers my dog.Final Thoughts:I can cut my dogs hair in 1 hour now! Thats 4 times faster than when I used my old Wahl clippers. I wish I'd bought these clippers sooner. They do what they are supposed to do, and they do it very very well. Buy them, you won't regret it.

I was a little surprised for the price of it but it works good, it's heavy, gets hot and the attachment peace to cut with if a little thick,

Cuts way better and faster then the $50 kit I purchased the last two times. Two cuts on dog so far and that means this is half paid for already. I need to shave my golden down to half inch during the summer due to a skin condition and too much lake time. I am able to keep it up over the summer now and not let her grow out between cuts. Worth the extra price when you consider ease of use and cost savings over professional cuts.

This clipper does an excellent job cutting through my Shih-tzu/lhasa-apso's super thick coat. I purchased the clipper guards to change the sizes but it does not clip as well as the prongs get caught in his fur. When I use the blade alone it works perfectly. My main complaint however is that the clipper overheats rapidly and I have to either take breaks frequently or cool the clippers some way (I've literally stuck them onto ice cubes to cool it). If it weren't for the overheating, I'd give them 5 stars!

I NEVER thought I would ever be so disappointed by an Oster clipper but this one is the worst, most poorly made clipper I have ever purchased. I have 3 standard poodles whom I groom myself and Oster was always the gold standard for grooming equipment in my opinion. This clipper was meant to augment my old A5 2 speed, which is still running well but doesn't have the speed of this newer model. It took a couple of months after I started using it for this malfunction to develop and it is now out of warranty so I'm stuck with it.This clipper has some sort of defect in the motor which causes it to overheat, vibrate like crazy and run in an uncontrolled manner once the blade is attached and put under load. The motor over-revs, the clipper vibrates loudly and my dogs, who have been groomed by me for years won't let me near them once it starts making a loud, screaming noise.I have read other negative reviews about this particular model. I don't know if this is a problem limited to a certain production run or if the whole line needs to be overhauled. I would caution anyone who wants to purchase this clipper to use it as soon as you get it and see if it is satisfactory.

The product was delivered in an extremely timely manner and it was received in perfect condition (compact, clean packaging). The Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed clipper is very user friendly, even for novice groomers. I have used this brand before, and I find that this clipper is excellent for grooming our family canine member. The cost of this clipper is fair based on the excellent craftsmanship and overall product quality.

I needed a high quality set of clippers to cut the fine hair of my two dogs (one a shih tzu, the other a shih tzu-bichon frize). I'd tried other clipper before that wouldn't cut through their hair well at all. A friend recommended these to me and they work amazingly! They cut through the dog's hair no problem. They come with the #10 blades which are good for general grooming. The combs for cutting different hair lengths aren't included.

These did great on the first cut, which we just finished. I hope they hold up over time. They feel solid and worked well, so don't have any reason yet to think they won't. We have a Golden Doodle and her coat is wiry, very tight and prone to matting. We washed and dried her first, which I've heard helps a lot. Generally cutting went like butter. Matts were still not as easy as I hoped but you could trim down through them much easier than other clippers. This was important to us since using scissors proved more dangerous, easier to nip her skin, or pull on a sensitive area than using the trimmers.I tried several other clippers, including some $60 that I thought were enough. These were by far the best and left me feeling like it was worth the investment. I did only run them on low for now and that worked fine. I tried high once when cutting through a Matt and it didn't seem to be necessary. They do get hot somewhat quickly but I didn't find it too bad for the dog or me. Seemed like a decent tradeoff to be able to get through the job more quickly, I waited a couple mins for them to cool down once. I do wish we had some type of comb attachment to help keep things even but I'm not sure if that would even work because of how tangly her fur is. I'm hoping we can clip more often to avoid the matts now that we have a decent clipper.
