Product Description

Park Tool TW-5.2 in use

Park Tool TW-5.2 Ratcheting Click-Type Torque Wrench – 2 to 14 Nm

With the increasing number of lightweight components and torque specifications found on bicycles, torque wrench use in the shop is no longer an option — it’s a necessity for every mechanic. The Park Tool TW-5.2 Torque Wrench is a high quality, ratcheting, click-type torque wrench that accurately measures and applies the proper amount of torque to threaded fasteners. With a range of 2 to 14 Nm, the TW-5.2 is designed for the lower torque settings that a shop or consumer would use for applications such as seat posts, handlebars, stems, brakes, derailleurs, and many carbon fiber components. Comes with its own protective case.

Got it for my E-MTB (Orbea Rise), works like a charm and it seams a high quality product, like we expect from Park Tool.

After a couple of uses torque setting knob was faulty and wouldn't lock into position, you could freely move the torque setting which made me not trust the reading. Poor quality from a so called premium company. Have returned

If you're a do-it-yourself-mechanic as I am, then this Park tool, as well as the TW-5.2, are a must in your tool box. That is more the case today with the increased use of carbon fibre in frames and components. Reefing away with allen keys, regular socket wrenches and such can seriously damage those expensive carbon items.Bets to play it safe. It's typical Park quality.

Needed a torque wrench with low torque setting to attach Thule roof racks to car. Worked perfect.

I bought it to replace calliper brakes on a (new) carbon road bike, since I was nervous about how to reach the 5-10 Nm torque range 'by guess'. Buying a tool as expensive as the parts it would install seemed excessive, but (A) I got it for a great price, and (B) it is really nicely made and feels solid and accurate. I used it subsequently to take off and clean the brakes on my other bike (after one year=7000 km), and I am glad I did, since dirt had gotten into the brakes that would eventually cause corrosion and corruption (particularly the rear brake). This I will do now regularly, and that way the tool will pay for itself. An experienced mechanic (who practiced with such a tool, and does adjustments on a very regular basis) probably has the correct torque feel in his/her hands. One thing ParkTools should provide is an option to buy 1/4" drive 4,5,6 mm hex inserts, since these sizes are difficult to get (I managed to get 5mm in 3/8" drive in my hardware superstore, but it was too fat to reach into one of the bikes' fork). Thus I ordered on amazon Capri Tools HEX Triple Square Spline Wrench Bit Socket Sets, S2 Bit, 10-Piece, which includes those (and steps up the drive size with increasing hex-mm sizes). The other main application will be to adjust carbon seat posts without fear of cracking them, although I have managed OK so far without a torque wrench.

I love wrenching my own bikes, but now that carbon is becoming more and more mainstream and affordable, a torque wrench is a must if you plan on doing your own repairs on a carbon. As with anything Park Tool, the quality is fantastic, and it is well made. This is the benchmark for bike tools... The Snap-ON of the bike world per-se. You can't go wrong with this wrench, especially being a clicker. Much more accurate than a flex gauge. Always make sure you store it at the recommended setting, and if it suffers a large drop, it's best to have it recalibrated. As far as the features go, that's about really all there is to say. For the money, it's the best available. It is however, more about safety. Consider this review more of a PSA. Over tightening carbon parts can cause catastrophic failures on carbon frames and components. And a stem, fork or seat stay snapping at 25 MPH can be a painful, even deadly experience. Never mind the exorbitant costs to repair carbon.Buy it, and use it properly. Don't be a cheap ass and tighten by feel.... even on chrome and aluminum, you really shouldn't but with carbon, it is imperative you torque your bolts to spec.

Used to build a mountain bike and also to replace the valve cover on my car. If I had to find a fault, the indicator is a little off on mine. Not so bad that you would set the torque wrong, but I would have expected it to be perfect. Otherwite it is great. Having the adaptor is a plus too.
