Install Steps:
Step 1: Test the gaps between the door and frame to see if it will fit.
Note: Do not force the door shut if there is no room.
Step 2: Insert the claws into the door strike.
Step 3: Close the Door. The nickel-plated body will be locked in place.
Step 4: Insert the metal rod to the hole.

I use it at home since I have roommates and my bedroom door does not have a lock. It works great, it just is noisy to set up so that might be a problem for some people. Not sure if it would fit into every door but I haven't had any issues yet. The door cannot be opened when it is in, which is nice. I would recommend this to any girl, it makes me feel more secure and it is easy to carry with me if I ever need to.

Does the job for standard in-home doors. This isn't great for the main door of an apartment/hotel room because they come in all different sizes and sometimes you can't use the built in lock. I feel more secure just locking the built in door than having only this device

This is truly a bitter sweet item...Yes, it's great added security, however if your doors are older this lock may not work as I found out the hard way. We were locked inside my apartment for 3 hours, we called a locksmith (who was not cheap)...he had to get a ladder to come onto the patio to get to the apartment to remove this gadget. It took him almost 15 minutes to get it to unjam from the door as we were not allowed to remove the door. We finally got the door open, cost me 140 bucks and I threw that thing in the garbage! So please be careful when buying these gadgets! Too bad I can't get refunded for the crap we went through...was stressful!

As a woman living alone I use this at night and it gives me peace of mind. Its really sturdy even though its so small and looks flimpsy. A friend of mine with a key tried to come over and I forgot I had the device on my door and even when she unlocked it she couldn't get in hahah we were both impressed!
