I initially get this to have a more refined edge. However, I found that it’s too course as it removes too much metal and can’t get the finish that I was expecting. Hence, I returned it and got a Spyderco Ultra fine benchstone which gave me the refined finish I like. But then, I liked the feel of this stone and how fast it can get a sharp edge which great for maintaining my knives…especially kitchen knives and/or using before the Spyderco ultra fine. Therefore I bought it again knowing what to expect.Although it uses water as lubricant, it’s not messy like whetstone or water stone. The metal shavings are easily washed off. Whereas the Spyderco ceramic needs an eraser and detergent to clean the shavings if used dry.

Really good stone, this is mirror shine level of grit and ceramics are quite aggressive as well as hard wearing. The lower grits (under 1000) in this range aren’t fantastic but 1000 grit and above they are the dogs. A little water and a steady hand grab fast result. You don’t need to jump through all the grits and the stone comes with a guide to which other stones for steel types as well as the box being a stand for the stone. They don’t need water but it helps keep them clean. Very hard wearing and are lifetime purchases as well as being well priced compared to some other options. 5 star stone

This stone seems to cut quickly, wears extremely slowly, and produces a polished edge that's ready for stropping. It seems much more durable than the ice bear / king 4000-6000 grit stones I used to use, and doesn't require the use of a nagura stone. I've used it on a decent number of hand tools now and haven't noticed any cupping, wear, or change in performance. It's also big enough that it can be used for plane blades and broad chisels without issue.

I just used this stone to establish a new bevel on a plane blade. As anyone who has done this by hand knows, this can be an extremely time consuming and labour intensive job. I was surprised how quickly this stone cut the metal. It took much less time than I expected. I'm very happy with this, definitely consider it to be one of the best sharpening stones I've ever bought. Well worth the price - a bargain, in fact.

If you're looking to sharpen regularly. I would recommend getting a diamond stone with this. Sharpal makes a good one.I have a 2000 and a 5000 shapton in addition to that. Diamond stone can be used as a flattening stone. This product will last most people a lifetime if they're not sharpening dozens of knives each month. 55 bucks or so for something that could easily last me 50 years for sharpening knives? Sign me up.Get this over those water stones that you see. These are very very hard, and do not dish out easily. You'll have to sharpen probably 15 stainless steel knives before you'd have to flatten, and then it just takes a few passes of the diamond stone.

These are the best synthetic sharpening stones that I've found. Grain size is very consistent and with proper technique, will result in a very fine edge. I've got them in 320, 1000, 2000 and 5000 grit and they'll sharpen everything from axes and garden tools to the finest Japanese steel knives. Most work is done on the 1000 stone, with finishing on the 2000 for german steels. Anything higher than 5000 is basically overkill for anything but razors (though the 5000 is ideal for finishing high-hardness japanese carbon steels). They're also very long lasting; even with regular household use they'll likely last a lifetime for most people.

Worked great. No Issues. Good and hard. Only a few drops of water needed. I’m an amateur and was able to cut paper easy after using 1000 grit and then 5000 grit Shapton ceramic stones followed by a leather strop. Little pricey but worth spending the money. Was about a year since purchased a more expensive set of henckels knives and was just using honing tool that came with the set, was getting to the point where it was hard to get an edge. Love the sharp knives, cutting better than new. Wife is happy also and we all know how valuable that is! 😆❤️❤️
