Perfect for keeping our toddler from opening the gate. We mounted it on the side he cannot reach, but wanted something that would still be difficult for him to unlatch should he be able to get to the lock. This fits the bill perfectly and has been very reliable.

Simple, clean, practical design made of strong materials for durability. Unobtrusive and enhances security. Always had a problem with locking double doors, as people forget to lock upper bolt, so closing the door will automatically lock it in place, allowing the deadlock to do its work properly.

I used this to provide a positive latching mechanism for our attic pulldown that had lost a little bit of it's spring tension after a home renovation.Rather than going though all of the headach of replacing the springs, the swing arms, or (heaven forbid), the entire pull-down ladder, I added a couple of these to hold the lid closed, and they work wonderfully. The tension on the springs are good, the baseplates are solid (and have a little 'slope' build right into them), and attach securely.

Nice smooth action, but not alot of throw. so you have to mount it perfectly in order to hold but not interfere with the door.
