I'm used to using Fat Max tapes when measuring roofs. I was excited to use my new 40' tape; it's the first time I've ever used one this long. I finally took it out of the package after a couple of weeks of using my old one, and decided it was the time to give this one a shot. I pulled it out and slid it down to the edge of the roof. So far so good. I then went to retract the tape and it started coming back very rapidly. I wasn't able to slow it quickly enough and now there is a bend in the tape within the first inch or two. So now, the tape gets stuck inside of the casing and is hard to get out. I damaged my tape on literally the first measurement that I made with it. Admittedly, I lost control of the tape reeling back in, but it still sucks for a tape this expensive to break within 30 seconds of taking its first measurement. In general, I like these tapes. But be aware that a tape this long can pick up a lot of speed reeling in and will potentially get damaged if it whips around. I would still recommend this product though.
