This thing is an amazing value, it can get up to 25inhg general vacuum on a full glassware set. if the pump is underpowered it might not perform well, if it seems to be not working, adjust the check valve and be careful opening it, it's a glass ball and spring, placing it back in afterwards made any problems with vacuum production (or air injection) disappear.

Works really well with a 1/4" check valve on a 5gpm pump.

Okay, let's talk about some of the negative reviews because this thing works great! The fella that couldn't get the fitting to stop leaking: It is Chinese. It doesn't have typical NPT pipe threadings unless it clearly says it does. These are straight BSPP (G) threads. And, Teflon tape isn't for sealing a pipe thread; that's a myth, and it doesn't work. Teflon tape is a lubricant so you can tighten the pipe thread easier. You only ever really need one layer, and using multiple can keep the pipe threads from seating and cause a leak.To the folks with suction problems: This thing sucks hard (in a good way.) How hard it will suck depends entirely on how and where you install it. You cannot simply put it inline and expect it to work. The most suction you would ever get from it would be if you mounted it onto the end of a garden hose and let the outlet of the Venturi be your water nozzle. What you have to understand is that for a Venturi to work, there needs to be a difference in pressure on either side of the Venturi. More specifically, the inlet has to have more pressure than the outlet. The larger the difference in pressure, the more vacuum potential you have. The further you mount the Venturi from the outlet, or the more fittings and reductions you have between the Venturi's outlet and the ultimate outlet, the more your setup will reduce the difference in pressure. No difference in pressure no suction. There would be fluid escaping though the suction line if there wasn't a check valve in place (it comes with one, but it also screws off if you don't want it.)

I tried connecting a garden hose to the input side... You have to block the output to get a suction. But once you have the suction, the flow rate (total output of water) is horrible... Wondering if we really have to install it in a parallel way to make it work properly?
