I used this once so far for attaching a large stainless water bottle to my fork for a longer ride.Observations:- When you use the included P clamps, the whole thing sticks out a ways from your fork and doesn't quite look nice... but it is sturdy enough. The inclusion of rubber straps that fit around the plastic strap clamps help it stay put on the fork. My fork is aluminum, bladed and not really round. You can get creative to find the best orientation for your fork.- Adding a tiny piece of TPU (junk 3D print scrap) to the bottom of the cage dramatically helped keep the bottle from wanting to rattle, raise and spin. I have seen bottle cages with a tiny rubber bumper at the bottom and I think this should have a hole where you could insert or remove a grommet. Makes a big difference.- The cage itself is nothing to get excited about. Big bulky Nylon (?) and not fancy. I do have all black hardware on this bike so it looks fine, but when it's on your bike and not holding anything, it looks kinda icky.- Like others have said, the included straps kinda suck. I ended up using bungees w/ toggle balls on the end. The straps could have at least had rubberized grippers sewn into them like the Blackburn cage has.- The little 4mm drive worm gear screws that secure and tighten the straps are pretty neat, and work well. As you might expect, you can't put a lot of torque on them before they spin in place.Overall, I think if they used more advanced and a greater variety of polymers, this could be lower profile, more secure and more durable - the mounting and the cage itself.I loaded up an 8 liter dry sack and tried to strap it to this but 8 L appears to be too large... this would be better for a 5 or 6 L or maybe smaller... I bought this specifically to use w/ my 8 L Sea To Summit bag, but it does work very well as an oversized bottle holder.

These cage mounts are great. Just get you some better straps like the stretchy rubber Voile or Titan straps. I use this on my E bike to hold water bottle, bags etc. The cage mount is lightweight, sturdy and the perfect size. I dont use it on my forks I mounted it straight onto my controller. You can actually fit a smaller backpack /sling on it.

I was looking for a cage (three actually) to mount on my gravel bike so that I could do some bike packing. I looked at the Blackburn and Gorilla options but kept coming back to the Versacage due to the flexibility of its mounting options and ease of removal. On the forks of my bike it has three mounting points and the Versacage comes with four allowing you to mount it higher or lower on the bike. It also has keyhole shaped holes so that you don’t have undo the screws all of the way to remove the cage. The included Versamounts also allows you to mount the cage to the forks or frame even if you don’t have bottle mounts. The straps that come with it are also well made. The 3kg capacity is more than enough for me to attach my sleeping bag and tent etc to the forks. Let’s face it, any more weight than that would just make the bike difficult to ride.

I mounted these directly to the fork-mounts on my Salsa. The cages have four mounting slots, so you have the option of lower/higher mounting. These worked perfectly for carrying my stove kit on one fork and HydraPak 3L on the other. Well over 100 off-road miles and no issues…strong and secure.
