Make the metal knob parallel with theROUND sinkdrain hole, push it down so the rubber seal.
Sink Strainer
Lift the strainer from sink drain and turn it 90 degrees,making it sit slightly higher, thus letting the water flow andprevent clogging.
IMPORTANT NOTE:

This product will for what it is made for but is very thin and flimsy. I ended up just using the rubber stoppers from it on my older sturdy baskets.

It fits okay and holds the water in. But as you can see in the photo it’s very shallow. My original is on the left. The shorter stem was no problem. But the strainer sits very low in the sink. The metal of this new strainer is also considerably thinner than my original. But it is half the price of my original from a big box store and that only lasted for six months. On the plus side, the knob that the stem goes into is made of metal and the stem screws into it. My old one had a plastic knob that the stem was just pressure fitted into so it eventually gave out and couldn’t be fixed. I may have to macgyver the metal stem and knob from this new one onto my old strainer basket 💡
