PRODUCT:“3 in 1 Laser Tape Measure Digital Ranger Finder 16Ft Measuring Tape 131Ft Rechargeable Multi Function Laser Measure Distance/Area/Volume/Pythagorean, Unit Switching, Data Storage by VISLONE”-------------------------------DISLIKES:The internal plastic to hold the tape tension broke apart at the very first tape pull. It crumbles in fingers.Laser beam always comes on before ready! The Manual that comes with it is very poor. The online ad lists far more information in the pictures about some of the functions.Little of the info in the ad is included with the manual. If you get this, be SURE to save the info in the ad for future reference.------------------Issues I encountered:Safety: Laser comes on as soon as power is applied. This can be be hazardous to yourself, or others since you’d still be looking at the LCD screen to set up the operation. The laser beam is NOT being controlled, and many presses of a setup button will turn the laser back on again!I discovered that 1 or 2 short presses of the "C(clear?)/OFF" button will turn the laser off faster than the 15 second timeout. A longer press of that button turns it all off. (a manual picture calls this button “Reset/OFF”)The manual has no mention of laser precautions, or how to turn the laser off.It does mention there are two timeouts to turn laser off: at power on the laser turns on, and it turns off in 15 seconds. ALL power turns off if unused after 45 seconds.(All other laser devices I’ve used have a separate button to engage the laser only when ready for it.)================More DISLIKE info:1. CRITICAL FAILURE: New, sealed box, no shipping damage.I opened box, removed the tape measure, and pulled the tape out about 16 inches.I then noticed a piece of plastic resting on top of the metal tape at about 12”.I picked it up and it appears to be broken! I tried to let the tape go back in, and it went only part way then something jammed it. I pulled the tape out/in a few times, tilting tape, and finally another small piece of plastic fell out also. Later a 3rd smaller piece of plastic came out also. (see picture)NOW the tape moves in and out freely, BUT the tape tension button on top has no function. The tape will NOT remain pulled out. The plastic must have been the part that presses against the metal tape!!I picked up a piece of the broken plastic and barely squeezing to hold it, it started to crumble in my finger tips. This is an obvious manufacturing defect. The plastic is Defective or the wrong choice of plastic was used for this part! I then checked other reviews and see that this has been seen by others as well.I would suspect a whole production run of that plastic part.At least I think I might have all of the broken plastic parts out now. The tape measure will still sort of function, but with much more difficulty now. It can make a measure if it can be held long enough. It cannot be used to mark a board since it can’t be locked in position while making a pencil mark. There are two small magnets on the end of the tape measure tab. They are nowhere near strong enough to hold the tape against the spring tension.------------------2. LASER SAFETY: Many button presses automatically turn the laser ON whether you are ready for that to happen or not. (There is NOT a button to control the laser on/off.)Simply turning it on turns the laser ON. If you KNOW, you can quickly short press the OFF button to turn it off. (or is it “C” (clear?), or “Reset” as a picture shows? But that’s only until you hit another button and accidentally turn it on again while still setting it up.The laser should NOT be on pointing at random things while I’m looking at the LCD screen and attempting to choose units type, front rear measure distance, and 1 of several types of measure methods during setup.------------------3. Very inadequate manual:The included 4”x2.75” manual has only 6 pages including the cover.(see my pictures)The AD has far more info in it’s pictures than is in the paper manual.NO info on laser or safety.NO mention of a battery at all.NO mention of the U button having two diffetent long press (or is it short press/long press) selections functions, depending on whether the laser is ON or NOT on. To see the second selections, you must first press the bottom off button while laser is on, to turn laser off, and THEN HOLD down the top button again to get to the second U functions. (normally simply pressing the top button turns the laser on again.Using this is all trial/ luck, and error. (and then writing your own manual.) It is NOT Intuitive! At least I figured out that when the laser automatically comes on with mode button presses, I can turn it back off with short press of the bottom C/OFF button. A picture points this button saying “reset and off”. So, the “C” might actually mean “clear”?? (but nothing mentions it might sometimes turn the laser OFF (but that didn’t seem to always be consistent either.) A LONG press always turns the whole thing off.Oh, and sometimes I must short press the off button TWICE in order to get the laser to turn off. ??So it is consistent in its apparent inconsistencies.I’m finding this product very frustrating.Even if I figure it all out, and the tape actually functioned, unless I used this frequently, I’d never remember all the convoluted short press/ long press, laser on or off and different measure functions. So, with no comprehensive Quick Reference guide to keep with it, it’d quickly degenerate into a linear distance only tool.I’d begun to try and figure it all out by trial and error and write a functional manual, but gave up realizing there was no point, since for this tool to be useful I also need the tape measure to fully work. There are far more intuitive and safer devices out there with real manuals to back them up if I want to carry both a tape measure and laser device separately.------------------4. The tape top shows both metric and Inch measurements. The manual states it is 5 meters long?It measures 16 feet 5/16” long but the metric measure extends to full 500cm (5M).BUT I only discovered that after I pulled VERY hard at the end of the tape to get it to extend another 5cm to show the final 500 mark.------------------5. I’d first plugged in the charge cable to charge it up is is usual for new devices. There is NO indication of whether it is charging or not. NO red/green status led or anything.I then press and HOLD the center ON button down till the display comes on. I see a battery icon but with 3 bars all flashing on and off repeatedly. I’m looking at the lcd screen to change settings etc.I hit the enter button again, and it popped up a measured distance and the laser turns off. (?, laser was on??, but I hadn’t told it to turn the laser ON!) Luckily I hadn’t pointed it at anyone’s eyes, or at a reflective surface and back into my own eyes.I had to plug in a USB power monitor to see what the power was doing. It showed 5V source and that this ruler was pulling only 0.007A when turned on. (and laser is off), or 0.002A with laser on. (if don’t hit any buttons, the laser turns off on its own after maybe 16 seconds. The LCD screen backlight turns off after 30 seconds, and the display turns off at about 50 seconds. If I pull the charge cable out and turn it on, the battery icon shows 3 bars, but it is no longer flashing.I’ll assume that that means that it was already fully charged out of the box, when the icon was flashing.(This is the first battery item I’ve received where I didn’t have to first charge the battery up first.)(The manual does not mention charging or the charging cable at all. One picture points to the charge icon, and that is ALL.)------------------6. There is also NO mention on the tape measure or in manual about the internal battery or what type of battery it is. (nor proper disposal, etc.) (I “assume” it is a Li-ion battery, but who knows.)(I later see in the AD where it states Lithium battery 300mAh)The USB cable charge port is on the side opposite the laser. It is not mentioned or shown in the manual at all.The Tape measure shows Model M6, but neither a model# nor any type of company name or contact info is in the manual at all.The technical parameters page of the 6 page manual has this info:Laser type: 650nm Automatic Laser turnoff 15 sec, and auto power off 45 sec.Max working life of battery: 5000 times (single time measurement)It also has a line that says: Voice Reminding: Yes (??? But No voice or beeps are ever heard)------------------Enough, I cannot recommend this device even if the tape tension plastic weren't broken.
