For years when I needed a spare wheel for a trailer, I would google how to determine my lug pattern. While I don't need to do it very often, I don't do it often enough to memorize the measurements. When a neighbor asked for help getting some spares for his trailers, I found this template. It's made of a decent thickness plastic, so it's far better than the ones you can print out of paper. It's labeled with the measurements so it's easy to read. Just hold it up to your existing wheel or axle, line up the holes and see what the pattern dimension is. It's a great tool to add to my collection and a time saver for not much money.

I can never have enough of these. It seems once someone I think I can trust "borrows" one, they never return. The purpose for this is to determine the bolt pattern of the vehicle, trailer, etc. you are trying to determine the bolt pattern. They are "NOT" designed to be used as a template for drilling axles or anything else. They are only designed to tell you what bolt pattern you are looking at. Nothing more. Anyone expecting anything more than this from this product?? You really need to re-evaluate your priorities. You are looking for a cheap solution to an expensive problem (anything used for a drilling template is "NOT" made of plastic!!! Pure and simple. Anyone thinking it is? Leads me to question your abilities as a machinist.). These are only intended to establish the bolt pattern (a neighbor asked me what the bolt pattern was on his trailer, I said I have no idea. What did they tell you it was when you bought it. I didn't think of asking. "That" is what these are designed for.) After he asked me several times about borrowing my template, I said "Hell No" and just gave him one. They are only intended to tell you the bolt pattern of what you are looking at. NOTHING MORE!!! They function perfectly for the purpose for which they were designed. Those trying to skimp out and use them for anything else? That's on you. Not this product. It's perfect for it's purpose. I will most definitely purchase again (since mine seem to keep disappearing since no one seems to have the initiative to even look on Amazon to find one. Yes, I'm forced to be more selective who I share my knowledge and tricks, like this template, with. I've definitely learned trying to be friendly or helpful does have its accompanying problems.). From now on, I'm going to refer anyone asking about borrowing my template to Amazon to purchase their own. They work!!!!

Worked awesome for what I did with it. Used as a template for redrilling a set of axles that were 5 on 4.5 to 5 on 4.75. A good tip is keep old studs in for alignment then transfer holes over and then beat old studs on.
