This steel adapter replaces the plastic oem adapter for the spin-on filter for a 68RFE transmission. Excellent quality at a reasonable price/

I bought this before I had the filter in hand and as you can see in the pictures with the hex pattern in the middle it will not be able to recess and sit flush with the filter (I'm holding it upside down). There are also fewer threads that will sit within the filter housing almost ensuring oil will pass out of the filter unfiltered.
