There's a lot to like about this rework station, but there are some issues I need to point out. I like the flexibility and controls; I can dial in a suitable range for most tasks. Strangely enough, much of my work involves repairing LED lights around the house and studio and shrink tubing duties for electrical connections. One quirky but useful feature is the gun's magnetic switch, although it can occasionally be erratic. The gun produces limited airflow, so this setup is well-suited for small items. For that purpose, it works very well; it's easy to heat a small localized area within the range of settings and temperatures provided. There are a couple of slightly annoying aspects. While the materials are good, the attention to detail in the assembly is lacking. For instance, the surfaces do not fit together very nicely, and there is a bit of play in the plastic fascia that attaches to the metal body. One particularly concerning issue is that there are no North American safety certifications. Additionally, I wish the main on/off switch were located on the front of the machine.Lastly, if the unit happens to come out of its holder, if distracted kids are around, or if the table gets bumped and dislodges the gun while the machine is on, there is nothing to prevent it from remaining powered on.On the positive side, the machine is very quiet, compact, and easy to adjust. Unfortunately, looking around, I've noticed other options that offer more features at lower costs. So, although this rework station isn't perfect, it offers very good value, but it's worth shopping around for other options.

This hot air station works amazing for de-soldering SMD components. I repair RC car speed controls and have to de-solder FETs all the time. This hot air station does it quicker and safer than the soldering iron method. This device automatically goes in to a "sleep" mode once the wand is placed on the stand. Just be mindful where the wand it pointed as hot air still continues to come out while the unit cools down. You don't want it to be pointed at something flammable or sensitive to heat.Heating up the wand it pretty quick. It took about 45 seconds to reach its highest temperature of 500 degrees. Just note that when you heat the wand for the first time, there will be some smoke that burns off. There are 3 nozzles that come with this kit. I like that the nozzles are twist on/off rather than requiring a screw clamp to hold them on like some other models. This makes nozzle changes quick and easy. This hot air station is intuitive to use. The arrow buttons set the temperature and the knob sets the fan speed. There are 3 preset buttons where you can store different temperature presets. The manual is understandable, but not very well written. There was some confusion as to how to install the wand holder so I had to refer back to the picture in the listing.
