Works with all RainBird Rain Sensors - RSD, WR2 Wireless and fits for all Hunter Rain Sensors, Mini-Clik, Rain-Clik, Solar Sync.
How Hygroscopic discs works : The way this rain sensor works is that when rain hits these discs, they expand and push a switch off that is connected to the controller. When it stops raining and the discs dry out, they contract back to the original size and release the switch. If these discs get excessively dirty, or have bugs living in and around them, they might not function properly.
Easy to replace:You just need to open the rain sensor cap, remove the failed discs, and replace with these new moisture discs,Just take about 5 minutes repair without tools.

They’re what they are supposed to be. Cork disks that expand in moisture to turn off rain sensor switch. Given the material, I found these rather pricy.

Fixed my rain sensor, worked as expected after adjusting number of rings for sensitivity.

My rain sensor was not shutting off. Read a troubleshooting article online which recommended changing these out. Did the trick!

Our sensor stopped working properly despite a supposedly full battery. Changed the old discs out for these (and also changed the battery) - now everything is working great.

There are six Rain Bird discs that come with it originally. There are eight of these but if, during replacement, you compare the height of the old 6 to the new 8 you’ll see they are equal (as these eight replacements are a bit thinner). Use all 8. Make sure to rinse the unit without the discs under a faucet even if you don’t see anything (but do not submerge). I couldn’t believe all the debris that came out when I did that. It had almost stopped measuring rain but after cleaning it and putting these discs in, it’s working great. Of course I can’t say yet how long they’ll last so now it’s wait and see.Update: knocked a couple of stars off of my original review, because they don’t seem to be performing as well now after two months. Specifically, they take too long to dry out so that after a rain followed by a week of hot dry weather, my sprinklers don’t run because the rain gauge still registers half full.

Replaced original Rain Bird disks. They fit exactly and worked like original disks for helping detect rain and triggering the rain sensor. I would definitely recommend. This is an often overlooked maintenance item. In the long run, it will save money on water bill by not needlessly watering the lawn by using the power of Mother Nature.
