Not blown away. I don’t see what makes these worth the price. It is very big, cumbersome and bulky. Hard to use with one hand. I Wear XL gloves. The grips slide off the tool all the time easily. And The handles are so long. I bought these after reading so many good reviews. And because I only use Anchor brand wire and connectors on my boat. I’m pretty sure a lot of people who buy these have never had ratcheting crimpers before and not to mention never had the right crimpers for what they needed. And we’re screwing up connections because of it and think these are the only ones. I’m pretty sure that’s What the reviews are about. They didn’t realize all racking single crimp crimpers can do this. I’ve always heard you should use the same brand of everything to get the best crimps because the tools and hardware are made for each other And tested together. I have the Haisstronica ratcheting crimpers ($20-25) that I bought to keep at work so I didn’t have to keep bringing these with me and getting them all greasy on tractor trailers, and they seem to be just as good if not, maybe even better because they are way Easier to do with one hand. They have the release lever just like these do, and many others. The crimps Seem to always be just as good. In fact, I’ve had both of the anchor crimpers, These and the angle style, and both of them have had some issues with either not wanting to release sometimes after the crimp, or not ratcheting and releasing on their own. But the cheapos, have been solid. Plus, much more comfortable, and ess than half the price if not a third. Especially if you buy them at West Marine where they cost over $100 which is just silly.

Great option for heat shrink butt connectors. Some versions of these crimpers from other manufacturers don't do a great job with the heat shrink / adhesive lined connectors and are more meant for the cheap nylon connectors. These work well and the die shape doesn't tear the coating/insulation. The attached image has Anchor brand connector part numbers if you are looking for anchor connectors though these also work well with wirefy and other generic named heat shrink insulated connectors

I have only used this for ~25 crimps in total on 10 AWG, 12 AWG, and 14 AWG, but I am very pleased overall so far, time will tell if this tool deserves a 5th star. The tool construction feels heavy, solid, and of good quality. The crimp connections and wire I used were all of the same brand as the tool and the crimps have all been very secure on the first try, passing very rigorous pull tests. The 10 AWG and 14 AWG crimps look better than the 12 AWG, possibly due to the 10 and 14 AWG being the larger of the size range for their respective crimp connectors. The attached photos show a 10 AWG Crimp prior to heating the shrink insulation. As you can see the insulation does end up a bit thin under the contact points of the jaws, but it is unbroken and continues to provide a continuous barrier after applying heat.I have also attached some photos showing the construction of the tool for anyone hoping for more detail. I am pleased enough with the tool that I may try to locate some crimp jaws that will work with this tool for some of the other connection types that I will need to do. The close up images of the jaws with tape next to them may help with locating jaws that will work with this tool. If you have already found some jaws that work well with this tool please post what you found in the questions or your review as I will be looking for some soon starting with jaws for crimping Anderson Power Pole connectors.I like the ability to adjust the tension and the use of easy to replace e-clips to retain the pins. I have not removed the rubber grips, but have only spotted two rivets visible on this tool, they appear to be related to the spring and well supported by neighboring pins and the screw that holds the upper jaw. I would prefer not to have any rivets, but these seem to be in an appropriate location and should not be exposed to regular stress unless the tool is treated roughly while partially unassembled.This was not the cheapest option for the job that I needed to do, but it seemed to be a safe option that was sure to work reliably without being excessively expensive. I have found that assumption to be true and feel as if I have paid for a quality tool. I am sure there is a better option somewhere, but based on what I have used so far I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend this item for crimping shrink wrap connections.

Licensed GM tech here; tool works great. Wire connections are securely tight with this tool.

This tool is fantastic. I'd been struggling with some electrical tasks on my boat and wasting the (expensive!) connectors on bad crimps.But it was REALLY REALLY hard to come to terms with paying $60 for crimpers... After the third experience with a series of failed connections I bit the bullet, ordered these, and eagerly awaited their arrival.They came, I went, I crimped, I was happy. So happy that I am writing a review of a crimper tool. They have a nice heft, they crimp well, the ratcheting makes it easy to get the crimp placed just right, and I have not had *ANY* issues with it being too hard to make a crimp.My wife totally doesn't get why I'm so delighted.
