It's dry would be prone to failure prematurely I took off boots and greased it with high temp grease. With parts that need grease take your time inspect for grease if any. The lower intermediate shaft only had a finger nail of grease that's it inside of the boot. 07 yukon denali xl. This is why I gave it a 4 star. It's does feel better tighter steering.
