About this item

  • Durable- Corki Cycles disc brake pads are designed to improve braking performance and ensure a longer lifespan than other brake pads. It's inevitable that you'll need to replace your pair of brake pads, but before you do, you'll want to get plenty of use. A pair of disc brake pads must be durable, wear-resistant and long-lasting. At Corki Cycles we know that disc brake pads are a science in themselves.
  • Options - When selecting new or replacement disc brake pads, size/compatibility and material are most important. The material of the brake pads influences the use, wear and life of the brake pads. At Corki Cycles we offer 4 different materials to suit different riding styles.
  • Material - Choose a resin/organic pad for occasional riding, a pair of semi-metallic disc brake pads for more frequent use, and multi-metal/sintered or copper brake pads for more aggressive riding. Multi-metallic / sintered or copper disc brake pads are perfect for more aggressive riding like downhill.
  • Responsive - When you drive a car, you want responsive brakes. The same goes for your bike. Corki Cycles disc brake pads are the perfect thickness for increased durability and wear resistance. But our disc brake pads are also the right choice for those who need responsive brakes and better response on the trails.
  • Quality - Before ordering, check your current brake pads for compatibility or look online to match the brand and make with the correct pads before purchasing. The pair of disc brake pads from Corki Cycles is compatible with: TRP Tektro, Shimano Deore Br-M575, M525, M515, T615, T675, M505, M495, M486, M485, M475, M465, M447, M446, M445, M416, M415, M395 , M375, M315, M355, C601, and C501.

Bicycle Disc Brake pads too thick to fit?

If you find that the brake pads are too thick to fit, it may be caused by two problems:

  1. If your brakes have been used for a long time, lead to the clearance becomes smaller due to the brake fluid or the brake cylinder or other reason and cannot be installed.
  2. The second possibility is that the thickness of the brake pad deviates from the normal tolerance range, which is rarely the case.

The solution: Recalibrate the brakes or grind off a little bit of the brake pad surface.

How to Choose Bike Disc Brake Pads ?

To determine compatibility, check if the new pad has the same shape as the original. Resin and semi-metallic pads are for lighter riders and flatter terrain, providing less noise and more initial grab. However, they wear out faster and are unsuitable for wet or dusty conditions. Metal and sintered copper pads are better for heavier riders and wet/muddy conditions, with increased performance at the end of a run despite being noisier and having less initial bite.

  • This problem can be caused by two factors. First, if your brakes have been used for a long time, the free play may have decreased due to brake fluid, the brake cylinder, or other reasons, making installation difficult.

  • The second possibility is that the thickness of the brake pad deviates from the normal tolerance range, which is rarely the case.

  • Recalibrate the brakes or sand some of the surface of the brake pads.

Obviously very important to know your brake model and type before ordering to make sure you get the correct product (SH B575 in my case), but I would also strongly advise that you remove your brake pads because the pads themselves may contain important information about the pad material. Included in the package is a little booklet that does a good job outlining what kind of material is best suited to what conditions and style of riding, but my old ones indicated resin, so I go those. Ps, the "resin" type indicates the PAD MATERIAL, not the colour of the metal frame on which the pads sit. You'll see in the images that the pads themselves come wonderfully packaged in a foam frame, but after examining the pad material closely compared with my old ones, it was clearly a different form of resin. No biggie. The problem was the difference in pad thickness. Although the pads themselves fit beautifully into the brake, I didn't accound for the thickness of my rotor, which didn't fit in between them at all. My bad. Needless to say, I had no idea the new pads would be so thick, so some sanding will be required. Honestly, it's actually better that they include more pad than less, but the extra effort to trim them down is a bit of a bummer. Pins and everything else fit wonderfully.Build Quality (BQ) rating - 4/5Expectation vs Reality (EvR) rating - 3.5/5

These bike disc brakes look to be well made, and they fit my bike fine. I was impressed with the packaging too. The disc brakes are bound by plastic ties and then mounted in foam so that they don't move around. A small book is included which guides one through the various types of brake pads, and mentions which are best for different biking conditions, as well as rotor longevity, noise, heat dissipation, and pad life in wet or dry conditions. The booklet also mentions how to bed-in brake pads before using them for the first ride, as well as how to replace the pads. All in all a nice little set of disc brake pads for one's bike.

I have Tektro disk brakes on my bike, and these pads fit them perfectly. The initial bite is a bit weak, but if you get them a bit warm, they start really biting. They get loud in the rain, when the rotors and the pads get wet.

With the upcoming mountain biking season getting close to start here in the north, I decided to stock up a little bit on standard parts that I know will be needed over the summer. This kit comes with a full double set of pads and pins for a full refresh of my brake setup. Kit comes in a nice setup, that may be a tad overkill to be honest but I actually enjoyed the included leaflet that had tons of information on the different types of pads available from this distributor. Good information sharing marketing option that some will probably appreciate.Looking forward to installing those in a few weeks.
