I ordered this for my transmission pan so I can at least change the fluid out every so often without having to change the filter. I don't trust it due to the plastic washers. If you upgrade them to copper I think it would work fine. I'm not sure where to get good copper washers because Amazon sells them but their subpar quality. The last thing you want to do is lose your transmission fluid while you're towing and destroy your transmission because of a stupid washer. You can also weld the nut into the pan either on the inside or on the outside. I'm probably going to weld it on the outside. Is if you place it on the inside you still will have some fluid left in that pan. Not enough to make a real mess though.

Good design but drain hole could be bigger.

Installed on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis. No leaks after my install. Works great and very nice to have.I read a lot of the other reviews before I installed this. Here's what I did:1.) Toss the included plastic crush washers and the rubber O-ring gasket. These will cause leaks.2.) Get any Amazon bulk set of copper washers in varying sizes. You'll need 2 copper gaskets that fit "snug enough" for both ends of the large drain bolt, to replace the plastic washers it came with.3.) Remove and clean your transmission pan, and drain the hole somewhere. Place the drain plug somewhere in the pan where the added length of the drain plug won't get in the way of something in the transmission.4.) Install the large drain bolt with the 2 copper crush washers on both sides. Tighten them as much as possible. Then, seal both sides with RTV silicone. Be generous and put a ton on the inside and a decent amount outside. The copper crush washers will do the sealing, but the RTV provides extra peace of mind. Wait for the RTV to dry before reinstalling the pan.5.) For the small 13mm drain bolt, you will need an oddly-sized copper crush washer. You might find one of these in the crush washer kit I told you to get in step 2. If none of them work, get a bag of these on eBay: "50Pcs 10mmx14mmx1.5mm Copper Crush Washer Flat Seal Ring Gasket." The small crush washer might not be perfectly centered but it will still work. Tighten it good but don't overtighten and strip the threads.

Easy to install, probably will never need it but good to have. Use silicone between nylon washers though.

Works great! Going on a 2 months and no leaks. I put some red rtv sealant around the hole before inserting the hardware for some added security along with red loctite on the threads. Drill your 1/2" hole, deburr, clean thoroughly, apply red RTV, insert hardware and tighten. I used a punch to lock the inside nut in place.

Easy install and followed directions precisely. However the hard nylon washers don't seal very well and I'm having some minor leakage of ATF from pan, even after tightening.

The plug leaks due to poor thread fitment and the o-ring supplied being absolutely useless at sealing anything.I cut a square of thick rubber from a sheet I had and drilled a hole through it to use as a new gasket and it works well now.I would not recommend this product, get the B&M one, or just save up and get an aluminum transmission pan that has a drain bolt

Ok value for the money.... But it leaks at the drain nut (small one). O-ring is useless and cheap quality one. Had to apply 3 layers of Teflon tape to stop the leak.Update one week later... Leaking again near the white plastic washer and drain screw.

Cheap quality. Nylon washers are loose and sized wrong. Can't tighten the drain plug too tight or else the oring gets wrecked. Scared to use this and end up broken down. It's as pictured but I wouldn't recommend.

You will wish you had this in your trans pan when it comes time to take off the pan .Well worth the time to install it and the cost is a bargain. I put new solenoids in my transmission also installed this plug I didn't put a wire on properly so off comes the pan again . No mess and I was able to reuse the new fluid I just pit in Saving me 60 dollars so to me it paid for itself quick and made the job far easier and cleaner. I will never put a pan on again without 1 now

Like the title says, nice little inexpensive drain plug kit. Added to the transmission pan of my F150 when I changed the fluid/filter, so next time I can just pull the plug to drain the fluid out without having to do the tilted pan drain method.UPDATE: Almost 8 YEARS LATER, and the drain plug is still leak free in my F-150's transmission pan. I replaced the o-ring after a few years when I removed the plug and saw some cracking on the original o-ring, but that's normal for any o-ring in that kind of environment. To install these so they don't leak requires a number of important and often overlooked or not quite followed-through steps, the most important being the pan MUST be spotlessly clean on the inside before installing the nut and washer. If there's any oil/grime on the pan when the nylon washer goes on, it will leak.Same goes for drilling the hole, tolerances must be close enough that the plug can't walk around AND you need to make sure the inner and outer pan surfaces around the hole are deburred because a little bit of metal can either damage the nylon washer or keep the nut/bolt from tightening down evenly and flush with the surfaces of the pan, both will cause a the part to leak. Also if you don't hold the drain bolt assembly with a wrench when removing the drain plug you can loosen the bolt from the inner nut, which requires you to replace the nylon washer and put it all back together again or else it will leak. Finally I like to use Permatex LOCK+SEAL on the threads which is an all in one thread locking compound plus thread sealant. It has a long dry time so plan ahead if using it, BUT it keeps the bolt/nut threads from leaking AND makes it more difficult for the two to loosen if the drain plug is a little stuck for some reason and you don't use a wrench to hold the outer nut in place while removing the inner plug.Hope that helps
