i use these for stripping hookup wire for electronics - 24 and 30 AWG typically but i've used it on thicker gauge with no sweat. i use it on silicone and pvc jackets. they are very good, and i really like this style of wire stripper.i have tried many different wire strippers. several of the expensive "automatic" kind, revered hakko and engineer brands... and none of them really felt great to use. but i adore this style. it is typical outstanding knipex quality.

It works flawlessly for smaller width wires (30 to 32 AWG) but it struggled to strip 22 AWG because the cutting edge is not sharp enough (pulling the pliers means pulling out the whole insulation).

When you’re done messing around with cheap bulky strippers that stretch out ptfe insulation rather than cut it, try these. You won’t be disappointed. Easy to work with in small spaces for repair jobs. Typical Knipex quality, and absolutely worth every penny.

I've had a set of cheapo electronics tools for a while now and when return spring of the cutters broke I decided to treat myself to some high quality replacements.I've tried numerous automatic wire strippers over the years and none of them have worked on the thin wires that I tend to use most for electronics project so I went for a nice simple, reliable solution and went for these plier type strippers and they work an absolute treat, just do some test cuts on a piece of scrap wire to dial in the depth of cut, tighten the lock nut and away you go - simples.The finish is polished tool steel, the grips are comfortable in the hand and they work exactly as I'd expect them to. A little on the expensive side perhaps, but I expect these to outlast me so on a pounds per year basis they come out as a bargain.Working with cheap tools is a chore but using these are a delight, I am very happy with my purchase.
