These cable tracks hammer in well. In my case, I hammered into both wood and sheet rock. If you are looking to tack flat ethernet cabling along the wall, this will work well for you. The cabling I had was Cat 6 and was slightly narrower than the track, but it still holds cabling in place. I plan on using these for my next install of slightly wider (approximately 10mm) Cat 8 ethernet cabling. The cable tracks I bought was 10mm.
