It inserted into the drain easily enough but it just made the water back up into the shower pan. There’s better solutions.

While these do fit into a standard kitchen sink drain (if you discard the outer adaptor), they absolutely require a straight unobstructed drop of 4.5 inches minimum [11.5cm] to function correctly – Which is rare in kitchen drains.If your drain has any bends or angles within the first 4.5 inches, then the lower rubber flanges of the backflow preventer will sit folded closed against the inside of the pipe, and actually *cause* a blockage, preventing water from draining.I have attempted to illustrate the resulting internal fold in the photos, by overlaying the backflow preventer in front of the pipe in the same folded position.I would be less annoyed if Amazon had permitted me to return these products, but for whatever reason, there are no returns permitted on this product. : (
