It is definitely waterproof but a little heavy and bulky to pack. But the alternative to use lighter, thinner Pancho is that they are waterproof for couple of hours.

El poncho impermeable es unitalla, si eres alguien esbelto o pequeño te va a quedar muy grande. Es liviano por lo que me da la impresión de que pueda romperse, sin embargo, no se siente de mala calidad.

I purchased for use along the Caminho Portuguese which I am on now. I have used this Pancho daily for the past three days.It is a good size and easily covers my body and back pack. It has kept my body and backpack dry.I do wish that it had longer sleeves as in heavy rain my lower arms are getting wet. Pockets with snap closures would also be helpful.However overall it’s an excellent Pancho that provides proper rain protection.I would recommend.

I haven’t had a chance to use this is in the rain yet so I can’t speak to the water proofness but I did carry it backpacking and I can say it is super lightweight and flat so it packs easy into a backpack. It’s large so if it did rain it would have easily covered both me and my backpack and the material seemed durable and waterproof.

There are some really good things about this poncho: it is lightweight, breathable, and waterproof. On a recent backpacking trip, I was the only person who was fully dry and for that, it gets high marks. But the snaps come apart with the slightest pressure, and that is hugely problematic and became absolutely frustrating since I ended up feeling like I was just wearing a big bag since it had no structure without the snaps which just didn't stay together. But I can't forgive it for putting me in peril. I was crossing a fast-moving river that was flooding in the rain, and with the slightest bit of wind, the snaps separated and the sides were in my face and obstructing my view at the worst possible time. I got home and ordered a much more expensive one from Sea to Summit. One solution is to just crazy glue the snaps together since they don't actually need to come apart, unless you want to use it as a tarp. But overall, it did the trick of keeping me dry, but I can't give it high marks; it gets a good but not great.
