Already have Geeni, so i bought this for my side door. Light being built into the camera makes it useful & handy & simple. Recommend electrician installs it (i am one)

Very tricky to connect to app. Used ‘wifi mode’ in app to connect. light is very bright,The only downside is the mount. Doesn’t line up with a standard electrical box, had to modify to fit.

Complete waste of time. I would have loved to give this a good review but 1 star is too much. Sleek looking unit and for half the cost of a more established company I thought I’d give it a try. Firstly the cover is not compatible with North American weather proof mounting boxes so I had to drill new holes to make it fit. I’m a journeyman electrician in Canada and the mounting plate has factory holes in it so water or snow will easily get inside the wiring box. The biggest issue however is the fact that I spent 2 hrs trying to connect it to our wifi. I have a strong 2.4ghz signal and even called our service provider to do a reset and it still won’t connect. It shouldn’t be this difficult. Complete waste of time and the their support is a joke as they don’t answer. Absolutely returning.

My husband and I got this installed and have been enjoying it the last couple days so far. Definitely brings peace of mind especially when my dogs like to be outside or at night. It has a microphone also and we have been able to talk to our dogs when we are away if need be and the microphone works good! It picks up good sound as well. Camera is pretty clear was surprised. And the flood light is bright and lights up everything very well. I did not rate the waterproof part because it has only been a few days so we will see how it holds up against rain and snow when we get some. Very satisfied this far! Worth it!

I've had the Geeni Sentry for about 6 weeks now. So far I've been very happy with my purchase. When it comes to outdoor smart cameras there aren't many smart floodlights. I have other Geeni products (smart light bulbs, LED strips, door sensors) that I've been satisfied with and the Sentry had the features I wanted.Pros: Unbelievably brightIt feels very sturdy and was easy to install.Local storage with the option for cloud if you want.Did I mention it's ridiculously bright?App interface makes it easy to browse motion events and view specific dates/times.Cons: While not a big concern (it is a security light after all), the ability to dim the light would be a plus. Especially if you want to be courteous to your neighbors. The local storage definitely poses the risk of someone noticing and taking the SD card. The ability to write to network storage could make this more secure. No way to view the feed or recordings from PC.Conclusion: If you're in the market for an outdoor security camera with local storage and no subscription required, the Geeni Sentry is worth your consideration.

Like a lot of people I don't usually write reviews, but I know how tough it is to pick out a camera so I'll add my thoughts and hopefully help out a few folks. I first became aware of Geeni after receiving a smart plug as a gift. I liked that device as well as the app. I also wanted to replace my old IP security cameras, so I began to process of researching all the latest smart cams and various services. I did not want to pay monthly fees, but I did want to record 24/7 (which this cam does with the sd card option). I also didn't want to deal with hubs - I liked how this just simply connects to your wifi. The Geeni prices are also great and I liked most reviews. Finally, I wanted something that works with Alexa. I chose this floodlight camera as a starting point to test them out, and I thought it'd be easy to replace my existing hardwired old school floodlight w/ motion detection (not a camera). It ended up not being too bad/too hard. You most likely will need to get creative with mounting, similar to other reviews. Right away I liked almost everything except for two somewhat large issues. First, it wouldn't work with Alexa as advertised. She just would not find this new device. Geeni customer service was fast and responsive. They ended up having to go back to the developer a few times, and after a few weeks and a firmware update, it finally synced. Good. The second issue - the floodlight works great detecting motion and turning on, but it does NOT alert you when this happens. In other words, during the daytime or when I do not have the floodlight light detect opt enabled, the camera motion detection works great. Alerts are sent, vid events are recorded, etc. But at night, I've stopped using the floodlight all together, just so that I have alerts sent to me when motion is detected. It's basically functioning as a regular night vision security camera. This all seems like a major flaw - if I wanted to use it as a floodlight and someone or something triggered it in the middle of the night for example, I wouldn't know about it while I'm sleeping. The light would turn on but I wouldn't know that since I wouldn't receive an alert saying that happened/showing me a vid of the event. WTF. I reached back out to customer service with this issue, and it's been two weeks with no response. So overall, because of the initial reason I mentioned that I settled on this cam, I actually still recommend this camera if you don't mind dealing with these potential problems. Nothing's perfect, especially if you don't want to pay top dollar for Amazon/Google or similar top cameras with fees and such. Geeni customer service - if you're reading this - I'd appreciate your help with the floodlight/detection issue. Thx.

Bought this floodlight form Amazon, was looking for something that didn't require a monthly fee to record and save video. The light comes with a place to put a micro SD card. The card depending on its size and the configuration of the unit can store weeks of data on it that is easily accessible from the app installed on the phone. The good:We installed the light on the back of our house over our deck. Light was easy to install. Downloading the Geeni app and connecting to the unit was also a breeze. The lights are very bright. I could not find a way to control the brightness but they work for what I need. The unit has a microphone and speaker and it is possible to hear and speak to someone using the app. It is possible to setup the unit to send notifications whenever the motion sensor detects movement and the motion sensor is VERY sensitive. Perhaps a little too sensitive. If the user could control the sensitivity, this would be a great feature to add.Night vision seems to work just fine. I can see most of the deck and part of the yard with the unit .I configured the unit to only record motion events. It is possible to configure it to record continuously. I installed the 32GB micro SD card in it. After 2 weeks of recording only motion I've used about 8 GB of storage. My understanding is the unit will overwrite data once the card is full.I used an SD card we had sitting around. The unit wouldn't accept the card until it was formatted in FAT32. The app has the ability to format the SD card but the card was not recognized until I reformatted it using my laptop. The Bad:Unfortunately the user can only access the unit through the app. There is no web page and there appears to be no way to access the camera with any existing security software. This was a big disappointment for me and I almost returned the unit because of it. There seem to be too many of this type system on the market with no ability to interface with other security software other users might already have in place. My second issue with the camera was the way it attaches into the junction box. It comes with a faceplate that can attach to the junction box in a variety of ways which was nice. But the unit itself uses a smaller faceplate with three screws that leaves the junction box exposed to the weather. It requires the user to come up with some sort of system to protect the junction box. For now I have used some silicon caulk to seal up the junction box but it will requires me to come up with something that looks a bit nicer. If it hadn't been for these issues, I would have easily given this 5 stars. The unit is supposed to work with the Alexa App and Google Assistant. I loaded the Alexa skill but was unable to get Alexa to control the light. This was not a big issue for me. I haven't tried the Google Assistant app to verify if that works any better.UPDATE: Since using this light for almost 2 months now some other issues have appeared. Because of this I've dropped the rating another star.First, the unit recently has started losing connection to the internet. This has happened multiple times in the morning. Each time it requires the user to delete the unit from the Geeni app and reconnect it. Each times this happens, all the settings and schedules are lost and have to be input by the user. Would be nice if the app let you store this information in a config file the user could retrieve and reinstall when this happens.Second, I would also suggests that when the unit loses connection to the internet, it still retains the settings on the unit itself that control it. The most disturbing thing I found when the connection is lost is that the light no longer functions as a motion detector and the light cannot be turned on manually if needed. This is a big drawback for this product. I have other lights with cameras at our house and all function normally as lights even when the internet connection is lost. This device is essentially useless without an internet connection.
