It is a polyester canvas throughout with a double zipper and about 24 inches long. It has two interior tube pockets - we were able to fit two Yamaha recorders inside using the two slots.The soft case is padded.It works better than our old storage arrangement where we stored our recorders in a paper bag.The only downside is that it would not be appropriate for certain instruments like a flute, due to the soft case and potential damage it can cause to that particular instrument. The zippers also get caught along the edging around the zipper when you try to open it, so it isn't a smooth operation and you need to unjam it when opening.Otherwise, it works as advertised and is a good alternative to a plastic sleeve or paper bag.

In the interest of full disclosure: I'm NOT using this for a flute. Rather, I have several, rather delicate, telescoping antenna whips that - when collapsed - end up being about the same length as a typical flute. So, the natural storage and transport carriers are those for flutes and other wood-wind instruments!THIS case is perfect for my purposes (and I'd imagine would do well for a flute) - it's LIGHTLY padded against abrasion and minor bumps and the zipper closes well.Interestingly: it's BETTER than expected and features not only the handles shown in the photos, but also has an adjustable shoulder strap - very nice.Overall excellent, particularly at this price point. Something to consider: if you need more bump protection, find a cardboard mailing tube that would fit inside it and use that as a liner. I do this if I'm transporting the antenna whips in rougher environments.Top marks, recommended!
