The website gives more information and these are made of plastic (melamine). Here is a quote from their website.Our GET FRESH dinnerware is made from bamboo fibers, cornstarch and food-safe mineral pigment that is added to the bamboo fiber. All the materials are mixed with a non-toxic, food safe melamine binder and poured into a mold. They are pressed and baked under high temperature, then polished to make them smooth.

This is the 2nd set I have purchased! I feed my 4 dogs out of them. They are the perfect size and hold up well especially knowing how much I use them. I purchased another brand about 6 months ago because these were out of stock; they are all cracked and I had to throw them away. Luckily these were back in stock so I purchased another set. The original set I bought are still in great shape, no cracks after a year of daily use!

I like how sturdy these seem to be. We just decided to switch from silicone dishes for our toddler to hard plastic or bamboo like these due to soap residue sticking to the silicone ones and making his food taste bad. These don't seem to have that issue, they've survived the (top shelf) dishwasher a few times without becoming misshapen or losing their brightness. My toddler likes picking the color of his bowl at meal times too!

Shipped just in the box they are sold in, tossed in a bag. Arrived with one broken. I think I can mend it, but clearly they are not as durable as one might hope. Especially when they are marketed for children, who will drop things!
