This is definitely the most portable guitar stand I've ever had, however, I think I would sacrifice the portability for a little more peace of mind.If you have a large bodied guitar, you may feel a little insecure leaving it on this stand. I've never had a stand that didn't hold the neck, so maybe that's my issue that I can't get used to. This is good for smaller instruments that wouldn't have any weight going above the top of the stand- violins/violas/banjos/ukes/mandolins... but for a large country or classical acoustic, I'll stay with the traditional ones with neck supports.
