Your cart is empty. The IO Crest full height MiniPCIE to SATA III 2 ports card (SI-MPE40160 ) is the easiest way to update any computer with SATA ports with a free M.2 A+E Key 2230 mm slot. Once installed, this host card will add SATA ports with two independent channels. This allows support of two SATA devices at speeds of up to 6Gb/s whether it is a SATA hard drive or SATA device. Using the JMB582 chipset, theSI-MPE40160 can provide a maxium sequencial Read / Write Speed of 850 MB/s to 2 SATA 6Gb/s ports. For the storage solution based on data transfer of multiple hard drives, the newly added FIS-based switching design can overcome the bottlenecks created by operating multiple SATA storage devices simultaneously.

Mini-ITX mobos are notorious for having limited storage expandability due to their size, but they're a popular choice for NAS systems because of how compact they are. My board has a maximum of 4 SATA ports and I only needed a few more so this M.2 adapter was perfect for my needs as I wasn't using the M.2 slot already. So far this expansion card has worked flawlessly and transparently; no drivers needed and my drives showed up as they should. There were other reviews worrying about how hot the chipset gets and after running a 1 hour write test to both connected drives at the same time I only measured a peak temperature of about 125F. However for peace of mind I stuck a small Raspberry Pi heatsink to help with longevity. Also, yeah, those activity LEDs are **BRIGHT** and they light up the inside of the case so I recommend doing something like putting a piece of electrical tape over them if they're an issue for you.I'll update this review if anything arises, but so far everything is good (also as a note I bought this used).

Purchased to add SATA to a Rock 5B. They work great straight out the box when running Ubuntu. No experience of other OS's but on Ubuntu they just work.

I use this card on a nano-ITX server board, running Debian 11. Worked out of the box. Has good/decent read/write speeds with multiple disks (ZFS) attached and heavy data transfers. Good solution if you need more SATA ports and your only option is B/M Key PCIe.

It was working ok for few months on my windows home NAS server where I used only one of the SATA port. Then suddenly I was getting constant Blue screen of death or PC just freeze. It took some time to figure out the faulty hardware and when I removed the adapter the PC was running ok again. I found out that main chip was getting very hot to touch after 1-2 minutes.I don't recommend the product.

Kept getting BSOD in Windows. Replaced it with ASMEDIA ASM1061 card and everything's good. The card also tend to bend, so it would be nice if there was some kind of structural support included.

This was installed on an ASUS B450 in the main (top) M.2 slot with Ryzen 5 3400G and worked with out any problems. However when I moved the NVME memory to the back slot it was not recognised

This controller card tells you to not boot your OS on it. Well.. I was going to use it with Unraid like the others. The heatsink is a MUST. Occasionally my larger transfers would just drop to 0mb/s every minute, for 10 seconds before going back to 400mb/s, and they are terabyte transfers. (They're mechanical hdds). I used a raspberriy pi heatsink, which is about 25mm, even includes a fan ontop. It was that excessive. As others have noted, they are not kidding about this thing being flimsy. The PCB is stupidly thinner than I would like. and you HAVE to plug the SATA cables BEFOREHAND, BEFORE you put the m.2 adapter into the motherboard.DO NOT place the m.2 adapter INTO the motherboard BEFORE adding SATA cables. Also make sure your SATA cables are adequately long enough so they don't strain the port. Or else the m.2 adapter WILL FLEX IN WEIRD DISTURBING ANGLES.Despite all the cons of this product. This is one of a kind, and if you are in the situation where you need 5 sata ports instead of one NVME port. It's THE product, and no other substitute.
