Ive had this thing for 10 years. This is my favorite chisel. I sharpen it sometimes. But it is the work horse and the scalpel. I'm currently on a timberframing project and I have high end chisels and slicks yet I still grab this marbles 1.5 chisel

Very good chisel for framing and large timber fittings. Only thing is that it is very sharp when it came but not razor sharp. needed a further sharpening before really useful. also, the handle is a bit shorter than i expected, especially for the purpose and the width of the blade.

This chisel is wicked. Great length. Fairly sharp out of box. No regrets and would buy again. Photo has a mastercraft 2inch for comparison

I bought this item with no great expectations of using it much. But I was wrong. Up to this point, my most used chisel was probably one of my trusty1-inch models (whichever was the most sharp at the time), but unexpectedly, I now find myself reaching for this this 2-inch chisel on all sorts of occasions such as adding finishing touches to my tenons or even mortises. I have found the edge to keep its sharpness as well as or better than my other medium-grade tools.

I was a little surprised by the IRWIN Marples- M444/2N BlueChip, Beveled Edge 2-inch Chisel. For under $20, I was expecting little more than a utility chisel; one I could toss in a tool box, that if I buried into a staple, nail, or screw, wouldn't cause me to shed a tear. But, it's actually a pretty nice piece- somewhere between utility and fine-tool. It was fairly sharp out of the package but took/held a finer edge really well. It's got a nice weight to it and pretty good balance. It feels good in the hand and shows surprisingly little deflection when you really have to lean on it- even for DEEP notches. Please make sure you don't intend to pound this thing with a hammer. It's a Marples chisel- to be "pushed" by hand or gently persuaded with a mallet. 4 stars instead of 5 because touting it as a "fine wood working" tool, is a bit of a stretch.
