This is a basic post level. I bought it for my sister when she was building her deck, and she said it worked fine. Good value for the price, if you're not in the post-leveling business.

I bought a pair of these for levelling my two-post auto lift. There were cheaper options but I have several Irwin tools and trust the brand. They do the job, but the magnets are not strong enough to hold the level in place while jockeying the heavy lift post around, causing the level to fall to the floor. There may be a logical reason for the weak magnets, but not one that comes to mind.

Using the Irwin Tools 1794482 Magnetic Post Level has been a game changer for my DIY projects. Setting up fence posts and other vertical structures is a breeze with this tool. The magnets are strong and hold the level securely in place, which is particularly useful when working alone. The level's design, with its multiple vials, makes it easy to ensure that posts are both level and plumb. This accuracy is something I really appreciate as it takes the guesswork out of the alignment. I’ve used it for installing a new mailbox post and constructing a small pergola in my backyard, and it performed flawlessly. One minor downside is that the plastic body feels a bit flimsy. It hasn't broken on me, but I do handle it with care. Still, the functionality far outweighs this slight drawback. This magnetic post level is an essential tool for any DIYer looking to achieve precise, professional results without the hassle. It's become a staple in my toolkit, ensuring that my projects come out perfectly aligned every time.

Works fine, but also can be deformed when pressed onto a miss-shaped post which can give you a false level. Keep that in mind and it will work fine for you.

This is such a great tool, I don't know why we didn't get it before. It is so much easier to level a post with by using this tool that attaches to the post and shows the level of the 2 sides at the same time. I would recommend this post level.

I found this worked perfectly for my little project. I only needed this to level some wooden 4 x 4 posts used for a privacy patio fence. It was very precise and easy to use and I could not be happier with the results. You can hold it on the post by hand for spot level checking or you can attach it to the post for easy hands free level checking. It is made of plastic and is very light, which is good but not sure how well it would hold up in a professional's tool kit. Not something I would want to just recklessly toss in a box but for DIY projects, it works great and has a price practical for limited projects. You attached it to a wooden 4 x 4 post by using a rubber band, which is included but as you might guess, a rubber band will not be all that durable. Mine has lasted for a couple of days and is showing some wear and tear but the good news is that rubber bands are not that hard to replace. Others have suggested using a short bungee strap to replace the rubber band. For prolonged use, you might want to come up with a longer lasting solution to attach this but then again, maybe not. A rubber band is a pretty easy thing to use as long as you have one around. It has magnetic strips on the back to attach to metal post and I will say that the strips did not appear to have a very strong magnetic pull to it. The magnetic strips are on the backside, located on all four sides and on the bottom and top so there is some strength in numbers but it will take a good deal of metal surface available for the strips to connect with for the hold to be efficient. I will say that this did not hold well on the smaller rounded posts on my own 40 year old chain link fence. By it's design, the larger the metal post to attach this to, the better holding power the magnetic strips will have. My experience however, was with wooden posts so I will let someone else evaluate this on metal post functionality. There are better post level tools out there, for me though, especially for wooden posts and the smaller DIY projects, for the price and performance alone, I would highly recommend this post level.
