JJC LH-JDC90 petal-style bayonet lens hood is designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. The non-glare matte finish on the inside further prevents or limits lens flare. No vignetting will show with the hood on. The hood can also be placed backwards over the lens for more compact storage. With the extended lens end, you will also benefit from extra protection from accidental impact. JJC LH-JDC90 replaces Canon LH-DC90 lens hood.

So far, this seems to be a good, cheaper alternative to Canon's original part (which I already bought for an SX50HS). Fits directly on the SX70HS lens (no adapter needed). I had no issue attaching it. Clicks on, won't fall off by itself. I am happy with this product

There are several different lens hoods that you can find on Amazon for the SX70HS. I like this one because it’s the one that consumes the least amount of space when reversed on the lens barrel. I’ve had a couple of these cameras with different lens hoods and I would say that I prefer this one even over the Canon original. This one is quite cheaply made and fairly thin and light, but the reality is lens hoods are basically just bits of plastic and as long as they fit and have the correct shape, you get no additional benefit for more money.

...great for eliminating sun glare. Where the flower petals are, you can see it on the picture...so it's important to spin it to where the petals are on the side.

Seems like good quality, although I find the fit on my SX70 a bit tight and it took several tries to get it on.Even more difficult to put on in reverse position. It did go on however and I'm hoping it may loosen up a bit with use.Look carefully while installing to line up the cap with the opening slots on the lens, apply pressure towards the camera and then turn gently clockwise.
