Arrived missing screws to assemble it and missing two c-clamps. I went to hd and got screws. The tool itself is great.

A cutting guide must be straight but the one I received was not and looked like a return to me. I have 2 48" levels that I saw no light when I put one over the other, looking at a light source. One of the cutting guides was letting in plenty of light when paired with my level.

I just received this a few days ago. Right out of the package it was perfectly straight. But, it was missing two of the four connecting screws. Not a big deal, these things happen. As long as the company rectifies it in a timely fashion, no harm - no foul. Johnson Level + Tool did just that. I emailed the company the evening that I received the straight edge, and they responded the next day. Here it is a couple days later, and the screws arrived. There is a small amount of deflection near the center when assembled and using the whole straight edge. Not really a problem when you are aware of it and clamp appropriately to account for it. I gave it five stars because at this price point, I would expect a lot more and it is a quality product.

Completely satisfied with way i can now dimension drywall using this straight edge in combination with my Makita drywall saw. Started out with no experience in my project to replace drywall in my home. Using these tools permits me to achieve the quality of work that is as good as any professional hanger and save myself thousands of dollars in the process. Local contractors were making bids on this project in the range of $4000 to $7000 . THe area required only 20 sheets (4x8) and at $15 / sheet for 5/8" type X material, it was pretty clear choice. I use an HTM lift (about $900) for the walls and an EDMA 450 lift (about $1000) for the ceilings. Many will say i over spent but given my limitations and ambition, this worked out well for me.

Use one for 48" or less - put the 2 together for up to 96" very stable

This is basically 2 4' pieces of aluminum with a small aluminum plate to join the longer pieces together. I did experience the "flex" in the middle when the guide is used in the 8' configuration. When the pieces are connected there is some movement at the joint. You have to be careful to align the guide edge, especially when tighening the 4 set screws in the connecting plate that simply bottom out on the rails. The clamps are adequate, small, and sometimes cumbersome to use.

I bought this item for ripping sheets of plywood. It does what it's supposed to but all it is is 3 pieces of aluminum channel that screws together. When doing an 8 foot rip the guide flexes. It can be extremely hard to get accurate duplicate cuts.I would not recommend this item. I opted to purchase the Kreg RipCut. Very accurate and easy to use and only 10 bucks more
