We got this for our 2011 Honda Odyssey and it was perfect for our family vacation. We were able to have so much more room inside the van this trip because of this bag! Its tough, durable, and seems like it would hold up in the rain (we didn't have any rain but the material seems like it would do the job)! This is a game changer for all of our travels with our kiddos and the luggage (the kiddos would obviously go inside the van; the luggage would go on top...)!

This rooftop cargo carrier is great for road trips. With 2 kids and a dog, we have a LOT to pack into one car. This carrier made packing for the trip so much less stressful. It was easy to set up and secure on my SUV. I love that it's compact for storage too so it doesn't take up much space at all in the basement when we're not using it. Highly recommend.

I bought it for a long trip from PEI to Toronto, it did the job perfectly and costly. Good capacity which allowed me to put some packages into it . it's waterproof and easy to mount it. Tt is sturdy, and I will keep it for the future trip.

We used this when moving from Alberta to BC. We added 2 extra tie downs to ensure we had no issues. We drove through alot of rain and everything was kept dry. I recommend this product as it has a lot of space and does the job. We only had 2 rails on our van which is why we added the 2 tie downs.

My husband insisted we needed one of these. I thought we didn’t. I was wrong. This is extremely handy and can be tucked away and easily put on if needed. We have a wheelchair accessible van for our daughter so we have almost no storage space inside our vehicle. This however gives us a ton of extra space when and if needed. We drove from Ontario to Disney World with our daughter recently and this certainly made it a lot easier!! We did take everything out of the bag at night just for peace of mind. It was easy to secure and we didn’t worry it was going to fly off. Nothing got wet during the intense rain we drove through either. All around happy with this! I’m off to read reviews for some sort of de-bug soap to help get all of the dead bugs off of it that accumulated during the ride!

Pretty cool. I was on the fence but I’m really glad I got it. It’s good for light stuff that is bulky (comforters, pillows, towels, clothes). Leaves your car free for heavier/more important stuff. I put everything in garbage bags before putting them into the bag just to be safe (it says somewhere that the bag is water resistant but not water proof). There is a good sturdy flap that Velcro’s down over the heavy duty zipper and I was impressed that no water got in, it rained pretty heavily for an hour while I was driving. The tie down straps were a bit of a pain but I think once you get the straps to your desired length it will be easier the next time you use it.Even with the tie down straps I threw a single ratchet strap around the bag juuuuust In case. No issues whatsoever. The bag did not move at all

Best value in a waterproof rooftop bag!Use has been driving with bag half-to-fully loaded from sunny through to rain, freezing rain, snow storms and high cross-winds on trips from Ottawa to Toronto, North Bay and back.Lots of straps to keep it secure. It keeps everything inside completely dry when the zipper is facing the rear (KEEPER logo forward). It took some playing around with to fit it to our roof rack and to figure a system for a speedy install and filling efficiently - as I’d imagine every different-sized vehicle and intended use might have various best-method approaches.I would like to use it without a roof rack now that we’ve changed cars and are still looking for a new rack system, but the company recommends only using with 4 sided strap attachment options (full roof rack system). That being said I’ve sold everything from the old car except this bag with plans on using it on our next rack.I’d definitely recommend this for a less expensive, more functional and adaptive alternative to hard boxes if the dimensions work for you.And I’d purchase from Keeper again.

drove from Ontario, Canada to Orlando, FL with this on top of our car. Worked amazing! Nothing got wet, we also got a blanket to put under it and it didn't move. We had it strapped to our roof rack. Make sure it is full so there is no flapping or noise- we put extra blankets and things to fill in the gaps and only used bags and soft items to fill the bag. It was very secure and worked amazing. It is black rubbery type material so it does get hot in the sun- that was the only issue when in Florida since the sun was so hot, it was hard to get things in and zipped up because the material was very hot. But it worked amazing and the price was right! Love this!

Bought this for a road trip that didn't transpire, so it hasn't been used/tested. It appears to fit perfectly on my 2004 Sequoia, and will likely come in handy one day. The fabric and construction appear to be ok, but it's not really thick, industrial grade fabric etc. Likely all you need for occasional use and folds into a small box for storage.

Honest review of this product: we traveled 1100 miles one way. Still have the return trip, i will update later. We were not gentle with this bag and I read many reviews and read the insert twice before using the bag. We purchased the bundle with mat and extra straps. We have a 2011 dodge Durango with OEM roof rails and cross bars. The straps are finicky to say the least but lasted just fine through 1100 miles. As other reviewers stated, they are a bit of a pain but they work well once you get everything cinched down. All roof rails are different and i found myself using 2 of the 8 on the back rails and the other 6 I actually took apart to place through smaller anchor holes along the rail in order to evenly distrubute the tension. This worked great and in addition to using the straps to go around the roof rails and bag lengthwise, the bag didnt move an inch or bounce at all the whole trip, no noise or noticable drag. The first day was stressful. We had never used the bag and it took a good hour to figure out the best way to pack and secure everything. We went 800 miles the first trip, trash bagged everything (3 carry on size suit cases packed completely full and 3 duffel bags.) I do not know how people got camping equipment in the bag or A pack n play because that would take way too much room up. In addition to trash bags we used an old comforter on top to fill the bag full and prevent flapping and hopefully soak up any moisture that got in. The first leg was fine no issues. Used the door jams and wheels to step on to load and unload and was no problem. I'm 5'8. Took about an hour the first time to load, and about 10 to 15 minutes to unload it and dismantle and pack the whole thing away (2 people). We stayed a few days and went on from there. It had been misting rain where we were staying. We did the same thing the second leg, trash bags and comforter on top. We ended up driving through tropical rainstorm cindy. 8 to 9 hours of torrential rain and wind, just over 300 miles with slow speeds and rest stops. We almost had to pull over several times because of the visibility and stopped to eat for over an hour. We arrived and the suitcases were humidified inside, the clothing felt a little cool and humid but not exactly what i would call damp or wet, which is to be expected. Did not smell bad at all. Just smelled like clothing. There was about a total of a quarter to half a cup of water in the bottom (like others stated in heavy rain). The only dampness was one duffel bag since it was the thinnest bag and we only had to put about half the clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes. I think had we put some kind of absorbent material in the bottom maybe a old blanket, it would have soaked it right up.I dont recommend putting anything in the bag that is electronic, makeup or things you dont want to get wet just as a precaution. I was surprised at people that put such items in the bag, as that is not a smart thing to do even if no water entered the bag. The bag on the roof will get very hot from sun..We checked the bag and found no holes or rips. Like i said we were NOT easy on this bag and tied it down tight and checked and tightened as needed when we stopped every 150 to 200 miles which is less than the instructions say to but if we stopped that much we would never get anywhere.I was impressed. Since it is easier to dismantle and store than a hard top i really liked this bag. It fits enough for a 4 person family on a weeklong trip but not much more. Great price. Even if it rips in 2 when we take it down the last time i would consider this a win. But i doubt it. This thing faired well and i think it has quite a bit of life left in it.It is NOT waterproof, but extremely water resistant. I said if i took thie bag down and 3 quarters of the stuff was dry i would be surprised. And turns out 95% is totally dry. Amazing.Edit: return trip, 1100 miles. Not a tear or worn spot just a bug collection lol. We strapped it down again, no mercy given to this bag, it came through like a champ. Had clean clothes to unpack and hang right up since we had just stayed at a place with a laundry room. Would buy again and again.

Held firm and secure at highway speeds. Simply did what it is meant to do. Only one trip thus far, so rating does not reflect durability.**Update**We used this cargo bag on our 4,800 km trip to and from Florida and it performed very well. The 8 straps hold the bag firm to the roof rack and adjust easily (hard mounts would be preferable, but consider what you're paying). You will have to tie the straps after they are tightened otherwise you will end up with an annoying noise as they flap against the vehicle. We encountered strong winds, snow and rain along the way, and the contents remained dry. Besides some dirt the bag looks the same as when it was new.Compared to the prices for the hard plastic travel cases this product is a great value. Highly recommend.

Update: Now that I read the instructions that came with the cargo bag (better late than never), I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Reason being is that the instructions clearly state that the zipper should be facing the rear of the vehicle, and we had it facing the front. So that might explain the small amount of water that was found on the bottom inside of the bag upon our return home. I'm giving the bag the benefit of the doubt and assuming the water leakage issue was human error, not cargo bag technology construction error. And next time I'm going to read instructions before using a product and reviewing it, not after. This bag was so close to getting 5 stars, but got knocked down a star after opening it upon our return home. We used the bag from DC to Myrtle Beach and back. On the way home we hit some extended rain. Water got into the bag, albeit not a lot. The strange thing was only the bottom of the inside of the bag got damp, whereas the rest of the bag was dry inside. But that's the only problem we encountered with this bag, and for us it wasn't much of a problem (the things on the bottom that got wet were either in plastic bags or were beach items, so everything wet could easily be wiped dry). Other than that, the bag performed excellently. The bag is well made and durable. The zipper is heavy duty and there's a Velcro cover flap that covers the zipper for added protection from the elements. The way the unzips and opens makes it easy to load. The straps are durable and well attached to the bag and there are plenty straps (8) to keep the bag securely tied down. Our SUV does not have bars on the roof rack in the front or the back, only on the sides. Yet this bag was stable attached only to the side rack bars. Finally, this bag holds a lot -- a lot more than what I thought it would. Overall, this is a great cargo bag for the money. I would only caution that you pack anything that you don't want to get wet in plastic. (Update: Or have the zipper facing the rear of your car.)
