Can taste the mold in the air in my kitchen now from opening one glove. Took pics, put back in box and put in the garage. Disgusting. Unusable.

Arrived in good condition, as expected, and looked like the picture. For the price, these are excellent costume gauntlets. However, as they are made from relatively thin 18 gauge steel, they are NOT suitable for contact sparring, and will certainly bend and warp with any forceful strikes.

The gauntlets are made from steel and come pre-oiled in two, separate, thin plastic bags. I received mine with a couple of black specs which are reminiscent of paint or some kind of protective coating and was also somewhat coated with fine particulates. The leather for the gauntlet feels and looks real but I'd be somewhat hesitant to concretely say they are.The gauntlets are rather heavy and sturdy, I wouldn't say they're ready for battle but I also wouldn't say they wouldn't protect you from a couple of blows. When worn in a resting position (that is: hands by your sides,) the metal plates of the gauntlets tend to slide down from the leather. This isn't a huge problem but it's noticeable when you're wearing them. It feels as if the gloves are only loosely held onto the leather. This could be fixed with the built in leather straps but it still happens to a lesser degree.All in all, these gauntlets are a steal for their price and construction and will definitely add that bit of flair to your costumes or suits of armor!
