Could probably get cheaper at your local hardware store. But this was more convenient for me.Came dry in package and worked great in addition to other things for our indoor plants. This was added to our indoor soil mix

I've always used a top brand name for my 100 or so plants. I mix my soil in to 3 parts, at times it's messy & a pain in the butt. This popped up in my feed, looked interesting and holy moly I'm so happy. It's so light, like spaghnum, no mixing and my plants are so happy 😊Hope this helps :)

A lot of people here seem to be clueless about how to use this potting soil (or any basic soil) correctly. First of all, you CANNOT buy a bag of soil and just use it as it is to any houseplants. You are not gardening cannabis or vegetables, so using soil directly without mixing anything will retain too much water for your plants, then it will end up with root rot, because: 1. most people don’t give our houseplants the same level of light as growing vegetables; 2. Vegetables growing much faster so they absorb much more and much faster water than houseplants. Besides, most of the houseplants we own in our home are tropical plants, which really need fast drain potting mix to not retain water. Therefore, you should always mix some parts of perlite / pumice and even orchid bark in any soil you bought from store to make the water drain out faster and add air pockets to the soil. Different plants and different house condition require different ratio of soil:perlite:bark, but no matter what ratio, you cannot use the soil directly for houseplants! I use this soil then mixing in perlite and bark for almost all of my houseplants, and they absolutely love it. My Thanksgiving cactus immediately sprouted out 3 new “leaves” after I repot it into this potting mix (for all my epiphytic cactus I use 1:1:1 Miraco-Gro indoor potting soil : perlite : orchid bark, and now it’s giving my more than 15 new growth, it’s just crazily happy in this potting mix.To store any soil, you put a layer of diatomaceous earth after you have opened the bag. Then you seal the bag and put it away. This way, bugs won’t be able to lay eggs in it, because they will get killed as soon as they touch the DE; and the bugs inside the soil already will be killed once they’ve matured and are trying to crawl out. Also, this soil is cheap and not rich, meaning that it doesn’t have a lot of compost, and the slow release fertilizers in it are very weak. So you need to fertilize your plants if you want your plants to be happy. And don’t let these cheap soil get bone dry before you water it, because they don’t contain a lot of rich compost, so they will get hydrophobic when they are too dry. Then you will not be able to water your plants well since the water will be running without wetting the soil. Also, THE YELLOW LIQUID BALLS IN THE POTTING MIX IS SLOW RELEASE FERTILIZERS! I can’t believe so many people think it’s the eggs of insects, or even fungus gnats eggs. Dude, this ball is even bigger than an adult fungus gnats! You are not going to be able to see real gnats eggs that easily with your bare eyes, guys…
