Multiple issues with board during install and setup. Major issue with power delivery. MB would only power a GPU with CPU pwr1 connected. If I plugged in CPU pwr2 and/or the lower PCIe power connector the MB would only boot with integrated gfx. Tested 3 PSUs and 2 GPUs over a few weeks. Worked 100% of the time when CPU pwr2 and lower PCIe power were unplugged. Got approved for an RMA but I shouldn't have to deal with that with such a new and expensive product. Returned to order a different MB.

La placa es una verdadera relacion precio-calidad, despues de ser timado por ASUS, MSI me salvo a un mejor precio, llego con algo de polvo dentro de la bolsa o algo por el estilo

I chose the MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI specifically for my VR content creation, streaming, and home network PC, and it has exceeded my expectations. This is my fourth AMD build since 2021 & this board feels like a high-end motherboard, yet it’s available for under $300, which is incredible given the features it packs. Why I Picked This Board:🔹 Lower PCIe 16x4 Lane for My Capture Card – The single-chipset controller allows for a lower latency for my Elgato 4K Pro, whereas the X870E version routes through two lane controllers, making this board the better choice for my streaming needs.🔹 LED Debug Code – Typically found on $500+ X670E motherboards, this sub-$300 board includes an LED debug display, making troubleshooting and system monitoring far easier. The last thing I want to do is spend hours troubleshooting.🔹 Clear CMOS & BIOS Flashback – Essential for Tweaking – Having both Clear CMOS and BIOS Flashback buttons on the rear I/O was a must-have for me. These features make updating or troubleshooting easy-peasy.Performance & Features:✅ Handles High-End Hardware – Running a Ryzen 9 7950X, 2x16GB DDR5 6000 CL30, Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420mm, RM750X PSU, and an Inland Performance Plus 2TB NVMe SSD, this motherboard delivers rock-solid performance for streaming, video editing, content creation & everyday workloads.✅ EZ M.2 Heatsink – Installing my NVMe SSD was incredibly easy thanks to the tool free EZ M.2 heatsink, which securely locks the drive in place. A small quality-of-life feature that is greatly appreciated.✅ Networking – 5G LAN and a single-chipset design ensure fast and reliable connectivity, perfect for my home network & high quality live streaming.✅ USB 4 – Having USB 4 support is a plus, especially since I plan to use this for many years to come. With new VR headsets and accessories launching constantly, it's just a matter of time before it becomes a necessity. This ensures maximum compatibility for next-gen devices.✅ No RGB – The lack of onboard RGB was actually a positive for me, as I built a No-RGB system with the Fractal North XL for a clean, minimalist look.Final Thoughts:I can’t believe how feature-rich this motherboard is for the price. It delivers high-end performance, premium features, and all for under $300. Whether you're a content creator, top 1% streamer, or power user, the X870 TOMAHAWK is hands down one of the best bang-for-your-buck AM5 motherboards available. Highly recommended!

It's a great board when it comes to features and compactness. Tons of USB slots (gen 2, 3.0, 3.1, c), clearly marked bios flash buttons. Was also really good to not have to use a flimsy faceplate when putting it into the case so everything fits as it should. Nicely compact M2 slots with the GPU and they have an very convienent clip mechanism which makes installing M2s very quick and intuitive. The wifi was easy to set up and even has a magnetic base which is quite useful. There is also a convenient GPU release button which is way better than the traditional clip especially for bigger GPUs. All in all a ton of unique innovative features that makes building a whole lot easier. The only gripe I have is that the heatsink for one of the M2s was loose when I got it from delivery. Fortunately nothing was broken and I was able to clip it back easily.

The MSI MPG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI is a beast of a motherboard, built for performance, stability, and future-proofing. With PCIe 5.0, DDR5 support, and robust VRMs, it handles high-end Intel CPUs effortlessly. The Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G LAN ensure blazing-fast connectivity, while plenty of M.2 slots make storage expansion easy.I chose this over others for its solid build quality, great cooling, and feature-packed design—perfect for gaming and productivity. It’s easy to set up, runs cool, and delivers rock-solid performance. Downsides? Lack of RGB might not appeal to some, but honestly, it’s an absolute powerhouse for the price.

From start to finish, the MSI Tomahawk X870 only provided me with satisfaction. Upon opening the box I could see that a lot of efforts and quality have been put together to produce such a high-end product. I appreciate the construction standards with its 8-layered pcb, effective heatsinks, quick pci release mecanisms, and much more. The nvme heat sink is keeping my samsung pro at low temps. So no need to buy the heat-sink version of the samsung. All connections for rgb, fans, cpu, power, etc are at the right place. I especially appreciate the extra adapter cable that MSI provides to plug rgb fans near the top part of the chassis. That's useful for AIO coolers installed on top that are equipped with rgb. The 7-segment display is a wonderful bonus since it provides very useful debug codes when performing RAM re-timing and learning and cpu overclock. It helped me several times. Installing all components was a breeze and the system booted up first time with my Ryzen 9 9900x and GSkills Trident Z5 6000mhz. I made sure to update BIOS before first use. The BIOS interface is very friendly and I overclocked RAM and CPU with ease. After modifying the timing of my RAM the system ended up not rebooting correctly. Couldn't go back into BIOS. I had the code 00 and a yellow led light. Not a good sign! An other reboot with no success. I thought the system was bricked. In last instance I used the CLEAR CMOS button at the back, pressed it for 10 seconds and the problem was solved, the system rebooted and loaded up instantly. I have nothing but high praise for this motherboard. My Ryzen and RAM love it.

By far the best motherboard I’ve ever bought. The green aesthetic is sleek and modern. It works perfectly with my Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 4080 Super. The BIOS is aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. The wifi 7 capability is phenomenal, I’ve never had such fast internet speeds. The whopping four M.2 slots provides so much room for storage. I especially love that it has so many USB ports. My old motherboard wasn’t able to handle all my devices, but this has more than enough room to accommodate a keyboard, mouse, speakers, headphones, gaming controller, tablet, phone charger, etc. But what makes this motherboard truly outstanding is the error code display. I wish every motherboard has this feature; it makes troubleshooting immensely easier. All in all, it’s a great board that I would highly recommend. Absolutely worth every cent.

The MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI is a seriously impressive motherboard that strikes a great balance between high-performance capabilities and user-friendly design. Built for the latest AMD Ryzen 9000/8000/7000 Series processors on the AM5 socket, this board is clearly aiming for enthusiasts and gamers who demand the best.Performance and Power:The standout feature here is undoubtedly the robust power delivery system. A 17-phase (14+2+1) Duet Rail Power System with 80A Smart Power Stages, coupled with an Extended Heatsink, ensures that even the most demanding Ryzen processors can reach their peak potential without thermal throttling. This is crucial for sustained gaming sessions and intensive workloads. The support for blazing-fast 7800 MHz DDR5 RAM further cements this motherboard’s performance pedigree.User-Friendly Design:MSI has clearly put effort into making this board easy to work with, embracing their “EZ DIY” philosophy. Features that streamline the installation of graphics cards, M.2 SSDs, and other components make the build process smoother, even for first-time builders. The M.2 heatsinks, included Wi-Fi antennae, and other small details make assembly less stressful.Connectivity and Networking:The MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI doesn’t skimp on connectivity. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 provides the latest in wireless speeds and low latency, while the 5G LAN port offers similarly rapid wired networking. The abundance of USB ports, including 9 Type-A and 3 Type-C on the rear I/O, is welcome. But the real gem is the front USB Type-C header with 27W power delivery, eliminating the need to constantly hunt for a wall charger for your devices.Aesthetics:The board’s understated black design is undeniably sleek and will fit seamlessly into almost any PC build, ensuring a clean and professional look.Pros:Robust 17-phase power delivery system for maximum Ryzen processor performance.Excellent thermal management with an extended heatsink.Supports lightning-fast 7800 MHz DDR5 RAM.User-friendly “EZ DIY” design elements for easy installation.Cutting-edge connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G LAN.Plenty of USB ports, including front USB Type-C with 27W charging.Sleek, understated black design.Cons:Potentially on the higher end of the price spectrum (although the provided information does not cover price) && if you have two DDR5 RAM, you must insert them into slot 2 and 4 to make it work.Overall:The MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI is a fantastic motherboard that delivers on its promises of high performance, excellent connectivity, and user-friendly design. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, a content creator, or just an enthusiast looking for a reliable platform for your new AMD Ryzen processor, this motherboard is a worthy investment. Its robust power delivery, blazing-fast speeds, and convenient features make it a top contender in the AM5 motherboard market. Highly recommended.
