First thing: they *may* be leather. They are certainly not good quality leather. They feel stiff and plasticky like pleather, and I do some leatherwork myself so I'm familiar with the feel of the real deal.Second off: I'm a dude slightly smaller than average and I was swimming in the small. The fit is completely off. The stiffness only makes this worse, they crease weirdly when you flex your hand and actually are a bit painful. For the 60 bucks after tax that these cost, they are far from worth it. I'm going to attempt to return them. Just find something better and save time and money (and pain).

I need gloves for sword fighting. Especially for rapier. Rapier focuses on thrusts and some cuts. With that in mind, I needed gloves that are strong and reliable with sufficient padding and comfort, plus giving me a good grip on my sword. These glove fulfill those roles. The stitching is superb. Not one stitch has been lose. I have used gloves from all kinds of makers and they fail at the stitching. It is leather, so you need to take good care of them with leather balm or it will dry out and tear. These gloves look pretty good.

These are actually really well made! Padded on the outside for blows but very flexible. Seams are all correctly oriented, too. Really pleased! I'm a 170lbs male, small gloves fit me perfectly.

I ordered these gloves in hopes of using them for lightsaber dueling, however I’m disappointed in the fit, and I’m not sure they’ll work for me. They are listed as “unisex” and there were no sizing notes when I ordered, so I was afraid they’d be too big, and in some ways they are.I ordered a size small. My middle finger fits perfectly. All other glove fingers are at least a quarter of an inch too long for my hand. The side of the glove fits nicely against my index finger, but it could easily have half an inch shaved off the pinkie side.Wearing them, they’re not as bulky as the dueling gloves provided by my lightsaber group. I didn’t have any trouble holding my full-sized lightsaber or my child-sized one, whereas I did find it awkward to hold my saber wearing the club’s more heavily padded gloves. My husband and I took turns rapping me on the back of the hand, and when the saber hit right on a knuckle, I did feel it. If an opponent was really gung ho, or if our movements simply aligned the right way, the blow would hurt. The listing does say these gloves are not for dueling with heavy weapons, but I’m not sure a polycarbonate lightsaber blade really compares to a metal sword or staff. The gloves look nice, particularly, I think, if you’re looking for a mediaeval style. The workmanship seems fine. I don’t see any problems with the stitching. I noticed what appears to be a few pencil marks from the manufacturing process, but I’m sure they can be cleaned off. They are nice enough that if they fit better, I would order a second set in black and use them for costuming as well as dueling.
