The best part about the book is young players love to learn to play each study. The reason I believe is they are melodic which tuba players need to maintain interest and develop musicianship. They advance in difficulty, keys, rhythms and so on but never lose the good music aspect. It's a winner.

I am in the process of switching from Bb to CC tuba, and this book along with the second volume have been a huge help. While the second one is good for learning the technicalities of the instrument, this fist volume is great to sit with a tuner and learn the range of your new instrument. Definitely recommended for new learners to an instrument.
