very flimsy design, they should have simply had the various adapter attach directly to the main piece, need to look at reinforcing the rest of the gutter now
Hopefully useful

Although this is a little expensive, it is a well built downspout diverter.Pros:- adjustable setting for how much water gets diverted (only a couple of options but helpful still)- reversible knob if the default position doesn't work in your application- comes as a complete kit, including the hose- capable of nearly full diversion in moderate rainsCons:- odd dimensions that don't quite fit on 3x3 downspout, but can be made to fit- hose and spout are pretty small for heavy rains- diversion mechanism won't stand up to ice so be sure to fully open when freezing weather arrivesA bit expensive but better than ones I've seen in stores.

Recently here in Montreal we have had several torrential rain events and lots of flooding. I think we, as a city, collectively hold our breaths whenever we see heavy rain in the forecast. Now, even during the winter we get heavy rainfalls. This is really bad because the water freezes up and becomes treacherous on my driveway. Despite having gutters, the rain pouring out of them cannot always be controlled. I want to divert as much of the rain away from my home’s foundation as possible but also don’t want it running down the driveway in winter where it will become a skating rink. That is where this wonderful rainwater diverter comes in handy. Not only can it be used to collect rainwater in a barrel or other receptacle during the summer but it can be used to divert water away from certain areas as well. I can now control with better precision where all the excess water is going. The water diverter is easy to install and appears to be solidly built. I needed help from my brother to install it but it wasn’t difficult. If you live in an area where restrictions are put in place for watering lawns and collecting rainwater is necessary, this is a good option for you. If you get excess rain and need to divert it away from your home’s foundation or away from paths, this is also a very good idea. The water diverter is simple to use and is very affordable. I heartily recommend this product as a simple way to protect your home and to “recycle” rainwater.

Let me start with what I like about this diverter... it's for a 3"X3" eavestrough... I have a seamless eavestrough system and it is 3"X3".Everything I seemed to see out there was designed for a rectangular system, I was having no luck finding anything that would work with my 3"X3" system. I figured I would just have to fabricate something and make it work. So of course, when I saw this system come up, I had to order it.With winter nipping at my doorstep, I won't be setting this up until spring, but I did however give it a good look over and dry fit by eye and a couple measurements. From what I can see, it should work fine with my eavestrough. The diverter itself appears to be fairly well made and comes with a couple different adaptors for different sized eavestroughing. It's comparable to the diverter I have by the shop with a rectangular eavestrough that has been working fine for us. I see no reason why this one wouldn't work out fine for us at the house. There are reasonably good instructions that tell you how much downspout to cut and how to install. My biggest issue is the hose. It was tightly rolled and kind of flattened in the package. I unrolled it and it has not wanted to return to it's original form for a couple weeks now. It's got a weird slimy texture to it that I can't explain as well. I have some pvc pipe laying around that may fit into the hose to help it round out a bit. I have the winter to figure it out I guess.I gave only 3 stars because I'm not overly fond of that hose at all and I somehow doubt it will return to it's original form. I may have to just go to the hardware store in the spring and grab a couple feet of comparable hose which is unfortunate, but not the end of the world.

So the base unit is great. It has a really sturdy baffle plate that should work well for either letting water flow straight through, diverting some to the rain barrel, or most to rain barrel (even at max setting it can still permit overflow to continue through the downspout). When I first saw it, I was somewhat disappointed by which side the diverter was on. Then I turned it over and saw that they made it reversible! You just pop out a cover, unscrew the thumbscrew, swap the control over to the other side, put the cover on the other side, put the screw back in and presto! Quick and easy to swap over, no tools needed. That part is great design - what I like to see. However, not all is sunshine and lollipops. The adapter box just sort of sits on top of the main unit, it doesn't attach securely. It would be nice if they provided a place for screwing the two parts together. You can DIY this, but no pre-marked or drilled holes to go from, and no screws provided. Another quirk is that one of the adapter plates provided doesn't fit - it looks like it is intended for a different model or something. Unfortunately this is probably the adaptor plate I will need. I will have to cobble together a solution but it won't be pretty. These oversights are rather unfortunate - this would be a really great product otherwise. A few little fixes and they can move this into the category of product that you would expect for the price. There are lots of other options out there, but some of them are not built very sturdily like this one and lack the adjustable valve feature.
